OK, this poll is directed towards the minority of ATI users who CAN get shinemaps to work with a post 4.4 version of the Cat drivers. What I want to know (obvious from the poll) is what operating system you're using. When you cast your vote, please also post as to which card you're using (7000, 8500, 9200SE, x800XT, etc.) and the Cat driver version. I want to test a theory.
Vote!

I never had a problem with shinemaps, at least that I can remember. Was using XP and now XP SP2. Using an X800 Pro.

Thanks Ransom, but...

How awkward.
4.9

Drivers: 4.6
OS: 98SE
Card: 9550

Ha! I knew it! It wasn't just me! HAHAHAHAHA!
Anyways, as you may already know, i've got Windows 98, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.
I was one to spot it working! Nyah! Nyah!
Sorry 'bout that. Anyways, download Catalyst 4.7, and shine might work for you.
-
hmm. ever try running in compatibility mode?
-
Ah, Windows 98, that might explain it since the driver cores are different from 2000-compatible ones...
-
Err, I've got a win98SE R7k and cat 04.1, 2d:4.14 and shines DO NOT work.
-
And I've got an X800 XT and they don't work (with any ATI driver that supports the X800s). Methinks this is more complicated than just a driver bug.
Actually, I should expand on this. Shines work in OGL, but they are defaulting to solid shines rather than loading a texture. Sort of defeats the purpose of a shinemap.
-
glow/shine maps USED to work with my Radeon 7500 but now only the glow maps work, and i belive it to be the Catalyst drivers.... maybe the way the shine code is made isnt compatable with the newer drivers. maybe the shine code might need some upgrading? just a thought.....
im trying to see if i can force something to work with the newer things the scp has done... will see what can be done.

probably the best thing to do is to get the d3d caps on a 4.3 and one from 4.8 and run a diff and see whats going on. I have this feeling something got changed somewhere that it shouldn't be.
