Create a new hotmail address and sign up with that, then abandon the account - then you'll always have one of your own?

Hotmail is a pile of crap.

They're one step away from requiring you to send in blood samples.

so use yahoo, it doesn't matter.  once you're signed up, you're signed up and the addy doesn't mean anything once you get registered.

Goto www.bugmenot.com and enter fileplanet's URL.

I just boycott them period if I can help it - What are you getting? If you can get it elsewhere, might be better...

I try to avoid anything that forces you to sign up...

Uh, yeah - the quality of the mail service doesn't matter. You only want it for the FilePlanet confirmation message so you can sign up. After that yo ucan ignore it entirely.

Don't you have the ability to make '@penguinbomb.com' accounts?  If so, why not just make one, recieve the message, and then delete the account?

Because e-mails addressed to random, non-defined accounts at Penguinbomb all end up being dumped into the [email protected] one.

And if I set-up an independant account it'll just keep piling full of spam and sucking up my space.

I hate those guys. What ever happened to free, consistant downloads where you dont even have to wait?! I dont even mind waiting that much, as long as its reasonable amount. What really ticks me off is the registration.

Server space costs money.  Bandwidth costs money.  Since they offer a free, high-bandwidth usage service.  You, the customer, have to learn a little patience and take a little spam to pay for the free service.  You will notice that you can pay a subscription fee and not have any lines and higher DL speeds.

I hate you so much.

FYI, they limit the amount of downloading you can do even if you are stupid enough to pay $30/month to download demos.

well you also get betas and all that good stuff.
Now personally I don't support exclusives or the Fileplanet way of doing things, but from a business point of view it makes sense.

as for demos, you can almost always get them somewhere else, for free, and usually as fast. So, unless its for an exclusive beta or demo, then there is no need to go to Fileplanet.
