Title: Forum oddities
Post by: StratComm on September 12, 2004, 08:40:59 pm
Has anyone else been getting a rash of forum errors/slow response lately?  I can't pin down exactly when it started, but I'm noticing the same generally flaky behavior that took HLP down for a week or so last year.  Anyone else seeing it, or is it just me?

[color=66ff00]Pretty nippy for me.

Only thing that's slow is user profiles.

Editting posts is usually slow for me... And sometimes waiting for replies to be posted takes forever as well... Annoying, it is.

I'm using 90% of my bandwidth to download Flesh Hunter 7, so I can't tell either way.

Yeah HLP has been real choppy lately.
It all starts out good and fun. But after I make a few posts, things get dirty.
IE, replies to posts take way to long to upload, and the forums themselves take ages to load.
So I have to leave HLP ( :( ) and find something else to do, and then next time I log on to the net, all is good for a bit again...
I've got a 512 connection speed too, so I hardly think that is my problem...

Short answer, yes. It'll either be perfect, or not work at all in my case though, I don;t seem to be getting much true slowdown ATM.

I have encountered this, and it goes so for many weeks, not to say month's. Sometimes the forum does not react for minutes ! It is really annoying, even If I  started to get used to it (I just open another window and surf to other sides while waiting). But it sometimes already starts when loading up HLP, I guess this is more a problem with game-spy's server rather than the forums itself.

And I'm using broadbandth, callled DSL in Germany, so it is definitly no
connection problem. I hope this will get fixed someday.

University connections don't count, seen as you have to share them with like 500 other people.

I'm gettin' the slow run too. Plus alot of the Admins avatars aren't showing (though I don't really care about that)

Yeah, I was getting that with Maeg's avatar and the banner.

I just assumed it was BitTorrent ****ing things up again.

Talking about avatars - what's the deal?  Doesn't seem to be any option other than 'no' in the settings....

The admins are avatar-nazis.

Only they get avatars. Everyone esle just gets 'project badges' for whatever campaign they're helping to make.

Oh, ok, well this is kind of a temporary home for me til WS is fixed, so I don't expect I'll get drawn into any modelling projects....

PUH! Double T3! ;7

Seriously, if TCO loses his job and thus the intardnet connection, I'm gonna kill him. Luckily that probably won't happen. :drevil:
