A really cool project someone did with spare LCDs. They made fake windows hooked up to computers.
You could simulate living under water, in an elven forest, on a boat or whatever with that.

Pff.
It's just an Honorverse rip off.

Or maybe it's a guy doing something in real life???? NO! IMPOSSIBLE!
is feeling sarcastic tonight
-
aye, talk about rich no lifers.
-
Actually, that is pretty cool. Especially if you're stuck in a city apartment with no view, or you live in the urbany suburbs of NY with barely any view. Plus, I'd love to have a fake skyline of some city animated out of a 'window' somewhere. It would be cool. Although, nothing beats the real thing...

"Broadcasting beautiful views 24 hours a day. You're tuned to the Scenery Channel."
A cookie to whoever recognizes that quote. :)

I feel I should note that they're flat and will look absolute **** unless viewed from head-on.

Not terribly impressed...I think this sort of thing is great for displaying art that changes or displaying a live scene...but not really for trying to fool yourself into believing something is outside your wall that isn't.
For the deception, it doesn't look too good, for other purposes it sounds really nifty :)

Did anyone else notice the sheer stupidity of this guy? Look at the footer:

How do I contact the idiot that made this?
Email "rh vwindow at hoagy .org" removing the spaces and converting at to @.

:wtf:

ROFLAMO!
Honestly, the only thing that would actually notice are the nitpickers and webcrawlers, which is precisely why you don't want your email posted in unaltered form.

An interesting idea, very badly executed - those cables draw the eye like a road accident....

I'd rather just move to somewhere with a better view, to be perfectly honest. Actually, I alray have a bloody great view out over a loch & golf course, so I don't even need to move. Hurray!
(also - power bills!?)
