Norfolk man in French car bomb terror ordeal (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/09/15/norfolk_bomb_ordeal/)

Best thing I did leaving that county behind....

Heh heh heh. Some people...
There's a link on that page to "Suicide Chicken Terrorizes New Zealand", too...
-
So near yet so far from a Darwin award :D

Oh c'mon, you would have all probably done the same thing. Sure, he was stuid to press it, but not wanting to depress it and calling the bomb squad is just plain common sense.
Reading The Register is always fun, one of th few news websites with a sense of humour..

El Reg just plain owns. If I hadn't had my HLP cap already, I'd be running around with Vulture Central headgear.

The BBC had a far kinder take on the story...

Bah! I recognise that thing - It's a gas sphere, as fitted to a Citroen car I used to have. There were four of them, one one each suspension leg, and it was pretty much the most unreliable part of the car. The first topic of conversation of any Citroen owners always started "Have you have your spheres done yet"
-
"You're not the one holding the bomb"
Take that, HLPers!
-
I was afraid that was coming...
