What event do you guys start your dates from? I always thought it had something to do with the covenant, but wasn't sure.

Yeah...I haven't gotten to the point in my schooling where I can take a world religions class yet.:p

The year refers to the time since the Creation.  It's based on the premise that the chronology of births, ages and deaths of the people in the genealogies in the Bible is historically accurate.
