Title: Custom .tbl files
Post by: DrunkenPirate on September 16, 2004, 10:29:55 pm
I altered the weapons.tbl file ages ago to change some minor stuff.
Can these still be used with FS2 SCP?
Can I just drop it into the data/tables Dir like before or do I need to re-extract it and rework it again?

Thanks for the quick reply.
It was only to change minor stuff like beam cannon sounds and some other gfx stuff.

Well, after some testing, dumping my old tbl files into the tables DIR completely screwed it up :\
However...  I downloaded the mv_zpack, extracted and renamed to fs2_open.vp and put it into the FS2 folder, and then used the vp viewer to extract the ships.tbl and weapons.tbl files from there.
Made my minor modifications and tried a few missions and everything seems to be working, does not look as though I broke anything along the way either. So now I got all the eye candy plus the few extras changed that annoyed me from before :D.

That's odd. Your old tables should have worked perfectly. Oh well since you've got the problem solved I guess it doesn't matter :)

Hmmmmmm.. The problem may not have been your weapons, there are certain images and things that are required by the SCP, which are only available in the MediaVP, such as the new subspace node model etc.

I wonder if it was not having those that caused the problem?
