.....I don't get it.
I mean, it's stupid in general, but I have a specific beef. Namely, when people kill themselves at Christmas.
Supposedly, Christmas-time has the highest suicide rate of all the various non-denominational holidays. But Christmas time is the only time in the entire year that I don't feel like killing myself/everyone.
I even went so far as the create a second Christmas at NW that is to become an annual event (August 31st - Mark those calendars).
I just don't understand how it cannot make you happy.
It's the only time of year when people are willing to actually be nice to strangers and help their fellow man to live a happier life.
The Christmas spirit is probably the only reason why I've not yet gone on a killing spree. It shows that there's hope for mankind, even if it only lasts for a week or three.
How could anyone get depressed by that?
****ing quitters.
-
If you don't have any family/good friends left, Christmas would be a very depressing time, possibly enough to drive someone to suicide.
-
But wouldn't any holiday do that?
-
But I guess Christmas is the biggest one where people like to gather for their family gatherings and stuff like that. Might be enough to push someone over the edge.
-
Bah.
I just think they're attention-seeking.
How could seeing kids playing in the street and people giving out massively inflated amounts of cash to tramps depress anyone?
I think they're just looking for an excuse to kill themselves because they're too weak to do it just for ****s and giggles.
-
Yeah. Them ****tards should suck it up a little more
-
Honestly, how could seeing Santa everywhere make you sad?
-
yeah suicide is just a cop-out

Everyone is scared of clowns.

PeeWee Herman's magic circus(or wutever its called) scarred me for life
-
For the longest time, I thought clowns were comedians who went to jail because they weren't funny.

I would have thought it would be in early spring when they get their credit card bills and bank statements.

Ever see a movie called "Killer Klowns from Outer Space"?
-
unfortunatly yes
-
Is that why you are afraid of them? Because they are really aliens from outerspace that want to take over the world? :shaking:
-
How did this get on clowns? :wtf: Anywho, to the actual question

You're talking about people with mental disorders. Regular guys aren't going to think to themselves "Hey look, kids having a snowball fight, I'll go slash my wrists!"
-
It could be the weather. Some people's moods are effected by it.
-
**** presents.

an0n: Basicly, when you see all people being nice to eachother, but not to you, and you have no-one left, you can be very ****ing lonely.
Try to imagine being at a party were everyone ignores you while having a great time. That'd make you feel lonely, right?
-
No.
And at every party I've been to, no-matter how ****ty the night is going for me there's always at least 5 people worse off. Usually because they're being sick, falling through things or having sex in the bathroom with their ex-girlfriend who they hate.

You went to that party too?

Christimas isn't like that, everywhere.
Tis all comercilizededededed now. All about "gifts" and "savings" and "really lame trinket gifts that you buy from small stores set up by people who hate christimas."
Also, don't forget the "ten-times more expensive" thing. Everything seems to go up in price on christimas. Seemingly.
Ticks me off. The christimas spirit is dieing.

...and then there's the people who don't celebrate christmas because it's "un-christian" and pagan.
-
damn catholics
-
I've never met a catholic who didn't celebrate X-Mas. I'm talking about the "non-denominational" fundie folks.
...anyway back to the topic.

Jehova's witnesses, IIRC. Stingy buggers wouldn't give sweets at Halloween, either *grumblegrumble*
-
Yeah, and I found out tonight that apparently the entire religion believes in Creationism.
I was planning to simply ignore my father as he got old and died. Having realised precisely how stupid he is, I now intend to kill him at my earliest convenience.
-
Uh...isn't that a bit...over the top?
-
It's an0n, a holocaust wouldn't be over the top for him.
-
Uh...is there any hope for the poor guy?
-
Perhaps if he realizes his dreams of world domination he may take pity on the people he'll exploit...

My aunt and uncle are both catholics, and they dont celebrate Christmass
-
Celebration tends to cause people to take a step back and look at things on the whole, which tends to plunge one into a quagmire of existential despair. People prone to depression will wonder why they can't experience the same joy that is flowing around them.
In short, suicide is bad, but it is best to be sympathetic.
-
And?
I don't believe in an afterlife, but I still won't walk across the graves of dead soldiers.
Seriously. On the battlefields school trip I was the only one (teachers included) who wasn't bounding across the graves.
-
Disrespectful little *****es...
-
I wouldn't bound across the graves anyway, I mean....they died for a cause (even if it was a wrong one). You disgrace them by stepping on them, imho.
-
I'm Catholic...
Christmas is one big party, and we go to mass 'cause we'd feel guilty not going.
-
You get upset because people walk on graves? If I were you I'd save my energy.

But...but...I want world domination...are you prepared to fight my demonic, six hundred thousand-strong army of heavily armed cats?! With ASF-9-equiped air support?!
Oh, and i'll have you know I have a weapon...not here...but i've got one :p
An0n vs. Blitzerland.
It would be the ultimate B-movie.

I think it's more the attitude than the actual act itself. Just like any other memorial - it's disrespectful to have no regard for those we ought to remember. Walking over a grave isn't so bad, but having no regard for someone who gave his life for you (quite possibly)? That's deplorable.
-
And they weren't just graves. One of them was a mass grave.

I'm lost in your words, but my cats agree with you.

Martyrdom fills me more with sadness than with deep regard.
