Title: I Don't Suppose Anyone's Made A...
Post by: NGTM-1R on September 18, 2004, 04:41:15 am
Terran-Vasudan hybrid destroyer/carrier/dreadnaught/whatever. Just so long as it's big and can carry fighters.

I'm thinking about a campaign, and I wanted to show the GTVA's fleet as becoming more integrated...the player's squadron is assigned to this brand-new destroyer/carrier/dreadnaught/whatever, first ship in the GTVA to have an integrated crew and integrated fighter squadrons. (Which conveniently explains away why I'm having Vasudans in Myrmidons and Terrans in Bakhas.)

Terrans and Vasudans share Fighters anyway.

What about the Colossus? Wasn't that some sort of joined project?

Yeah but everyone seems to assume the entire crew was terran just cause the comm officer was :p

The Colossus LOOKS Terran, though. I wanted something that has a more clearly mixed lineage.

Besides, last I checked it took twenty years to build and then got blown up. I wanted something post-Cappella, but not by twenty years. Fewer mods is less headaches for newbie campaign-maker.

The Hecate looks Vasudan but that wouldn't really fit the bill would it, why not just reskin another MOD

I realy suck at makeing textures, I managed to make one texture that looked good on it for some parts, but every atempt I made for makeing other textures to go along with it failed miserably

this is the one texture that passed my QA

submit button is too close to the file atachment button...

anyway, anyone feel free to use this for anything, I have a 1024^2 version available, but if someone can make something that matches the colors here, I'd be much happy.

And the fact that it used terran beam cannons. :p It was certainly ugly enough to be terran.

The Hecate doesn't look like a Vasudan design at all, but rather Vasudan influenced.

I think the Vasudans have really made some kick a$$ destroyers, heavy fighters (mainstream ones, not counting exotics like terran mara's, Arei, or Eryniei (sp?)), and bombers

The Terrans make some really cool cruisers (something the Vasudans never seem to get right), corvettes, and space superiority fighters

I think transports are a tie. They are all good in different ways (except for the Elysium, which is a joke for a military transport. Bes and Bast are not included because they were seldom used in military operations, unlike the Elysium).

I also think interceptors are a tie. While the Perseus was the best interceptor in FS2, the Horus, Serapis, and Valkyrie were very good in different ways (obviously none of which includes different armor).

In short, the Vasudans should design the kinds of ships they are best at designing exclusively. The same goes for the Terran. This way they are forced to be in fully integrated fleets that take advantage of what the best of each race has to offer.

And sorry about this rant, but I had to do it. :p

Any sort of tiled map is a pain in the arse to do, and a custom templated map takes an eternity if you want a decent res.  It's very much a quandry, mapping big ships........

yes, but that would be bad for the Terrans. In the case of another breakaway, or war between the races, the Vasudans would have all of the most powerful vessels, and the Terrans would be tuck with bombers, interceptors, transports and cruisers...
