Does anyone have a link to Omniscapers 3d earth model? The link in the starships thread is broke.
-
The model or skybox? Both are here
http://nodewar.penguinbomb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1680&page=2
Where can I find tutorials on how to make a simple website? Its annoying how I need to depend on forums to get links to my past work.
-
The model, and that link is broken too. Did you take it down?
Go to freewebs.com (good for storing lots of small files) or use notepad, add a background add a header add links, your done.
OR
Get photoshop and create some really nice graphics for buttons/banners then stick them in a well organized space. Use hover buttons for fancy stuff.
-
Its working.... not the first link though. Its been replaced by the ones following it.
-
Where?
EDIT: If you are talking about the links that are in the same post, those contain only textures.
-
I'lll reupload........ give me 15 min
-
Try it now. You'll still need those textures.
-
Thanks!
-
Version 2 will be out shortly.
-
Uh.. could you upload the table?
-
Grab Dreamweaver MX for a good WYSIWYG Webbie tool. It only takes a little bit of fiddling to get decent sites. Hell, if that's too complex for you even, use Word.

And the DDS textures I download show up as plain glossy white. Can you reupload those too?
-
GLossy white!? Are you running in OGL or Directx?
-
FRED wasnt displaying the DDS textures so I converted them to pcx and it works fine now.
But can you post a table entry pleeease?
-
rrrrg..... Make me dig up dead dinosaurs........ fine
Found it.
Download any release AFTER the earth model, and the table has it.
-

What's your gripe with DW?

I'm a purist. I code by hand, with minimal hand-holding by the program (Homesite). Color-coding, tag insight here and there, but that's it. I know how to use the HTML code the right way to get the results I want to achieve.
I guess I just dislike all WYSIWYG HTML proggies due to the lack of control. And yes, I know DW has "coder" mode or whatever it's called. Homesite is just better at hand-coding.
-
Homesite? Not heard of that one. Freeware?
-
BTW Omniscaper would you mind scaling V2 to the right size cause its kinda of disturbing seeing this huge earth and bumping into it with a starfury and flattening Mexico.
-
If I make it any bigger, it disappears into the clipping realm. BTW, are the clouds moving?

:wtf: It's been around since '95 at least. Programmed by an indie programmer, then bought up by Allaire, and now bought by Macromedia and part of their Dreamweaver package. Of course, they're pretty much letting it fall by the wayside, and are putting everything into DW. Yuck.
-
The clouds are nonexistent. As for V2 make a scaled one and a life sized one in case the SCP people fix the clipping issues.

If it's not Freeware I'll have paid it no attention. Why should I pay to code HTML when Notepad is free ;)
Seriously though I use AceHTML which works quite nicely for me but if there is a better freeware alternative out there I think it's worth looking into.
-
Well, it's not freeware, no. Neither is TopStyle (http://www.bradsoft.com/topstyle/index.asp), programmed by the same guy who originally made Homesite. It started out as an awesome CSS editor, and has recently expanded to become a full-featured HTML/CSS editor. Pretty darn good, I must say.
-
I think I'll stick to AceHTML then. :)
