Okay, a new thread for a not-entirely-new topic - voicework for Shrouding the Light.
Here are the roles available right now, since I'm not so optimistic as to hope for voicing all the Vasudans, especially since it would require some audio wizardry that might be beyond my league... but I digress. The Terrans, in order of size:
Commodore Cooper (Mongoose) - COMPLETE
Righteous Fire (SA22C) - COMPLETE
Ironclad (http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/sbre/stl/ironclad.txt) (?)
Marlborough (Black Wolf) - COMPLETE
Kappa 1/Theta 1 (combined role) (Lightspeed) - COMPLETE
Cameron - COMPLETE
Munificence - COMPLETE
Throckmorton - COMPLETE
All the lines are included, along with some director's notes. Chances are, they'll be unnecessary, but I included them to minimise possibility of questions being needed because you're not sure what inflection or tone of voice to use here, stuff like that.
I'll be voicing the Foresight/Zeta 1 role, unless somebody really wants to be a science cruiser/bomber pilot. And those great people who offered their services for other roles are listed here.
Lightspeed
Black Wolf
Knight Templar
Mongoose
SA22C
If you want to help out (and it will be much appreciated) then just post below and I'll add you to the list.
If, for whatever reason, you can't or don't want to do all this voicework, then just say, and the list will be amended, no worries. :)
Feel free to voice whichever role you want; just post your choice here, so that people don't end voicing the same character.
If you have any other questions because I've forgotten to explain something, just post below.
You can also just post for the hell of it, but remember: post in moderation. Spam is toxic in both its incarnations.
A'right? :)

Hunter aka 'Hunt Smaker' imitates vasudan voices perfectly. I'm sure he'd be willing to convert the voice acting files on the proviso he's not too busy...
-
Just tell me what to voice, and you shall get it :)
-
Ack. I was hoping volunteers would express a preference and I wouldn't have to worry about insulting people by saying "Well, do this one and we won't have to listen to your voice as much." :(
But no matter. How about we start in the middle... would you like to do the Kappa 1 / Theta 1 combined role? Theta 1's only one line anyway, so don't worry about putting on a different voice or anything like that. 'Course, as first volunteer to post in the thread, you have first pick...

Are we talking mechanised translators for the Vasudans or new 'ooga-booga' Zod-speak?
I'm not sure how I'll handle the Vasudans. There probably won't be enough voice actors to voice the Vasudans as well, not even one for all of them (which would be a LOT of lines for one person, and would probably become very repetitve for the player)... I may be stuck with fiddling with existing Vasudan speech - anyone have recommendations for free sound-editing programs? Freeware or something?
-
Sure, not like Kappa 1 / Theta 1 have much to say :)
I'll host up the lines once I've recorded them.
-
I'm feeling a little ambitious, so I'll try giving Commodore Cooper a try. If you don't like it, you can fire me/relegate me to a red shirt role :p. Note that the quality of my messages may be a little poor; I don't really have any sound-editing software, and my mic isn't the best, but I'll give it a shot.
Edit: I should probably play the campaign before doing the acting :p.
-
I'd love to do some voice work for ya. Do you want a sample of my voice?
I'll do the Commodore if Mongoose isn't going to, otherwise I'll do the Righteous Fire.
-
/me snafoos Marlborough.
Can we change the lines around a bit? Just to make them seem more natural.
-
Yeah, sure. Just don't change the basic meaning of the words... so long as the stuff basically means the same thing, don't worry about it. :)
-
If you're still looking for a decent sound editing proggy, try GoldWave. It's Shareware, but the only limitation is how many commands you can do each time you load the program. If you shut it down and restart it, you get to start the 'counter' again from the beginning.
-
Thank you. I'll bear that in mind.

Blaise,
I'd like to offer up my services as well, and I do have an audition clip available online for another mission I auditioned for.
I've been experimenting with how to create the Vasudan voice effect in an audio app I have. Not quite ready to demo yet on that, but if you're interested, drop me a PM and I'll send you a link to the audition.
-
I'm finally back from my trip, which means, I'll be able to voice act my lines! :)
-
I am done, PMing you the linky, B.R.
-
Good, good... ye-e-es, excellent...

How do you feel about voicing the Ironclad? That's the only role that I still need... if that's good with you, just start voicing and send me the files. 'Twould be very much appreciated indeed.
Done, nearly all done...
-
Bumpage...any word on the status of the Ironclad voices?
-
I'll do it if no one else will.
I can do an accent or something.
-
That'd be much appreciated. :)
Once the Ironclad is done, it's just me and a lot of Vasudans... my free time isn't about to stop dwindling, evidently, and I'm still preoccupied with other matters...
-
Sorry for the bumpage, but is there any update on this? I don't want my talent to go to waste. :p
