this all sounds pretty reasonable.... (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3682768.stm) (if you ignore the usual political waffle)
but then he screws it up by offering joyriders free go-carting trips.
how FUBAR is that ? 'wish they would pay for me to go 'carting.
-
where?
-
I couldn't find it on the site (only did a quick look) but it's been in the news elsewhere. Wish he'd forget about the Tories and go after Labour too.
-
I was a party member for years, but not now, not since the war....
-
Heh. Fubar.

You dare to insult magatsu1?! FEEL MY PATHETIC WRATH!!!!111oneone
Yup. That was it. I'm harmless. :sigh: I may be evil, but I have a really poor way of expressing it.
Luckily, my grand scheme of lurking around an0n is paying off...soon...i'll be COMPLETLY AND TOTALLY INSANE!!! More so than now, anyways.

You know, if you switch the first letters of the name Ken Bigsley, you almost have Ben Kingsley, minus the n.
...what? Thats honestly the first thing that came to mind as I read the article.
;) ;)
oh and, er, best of luck to 'em. Their political stance seems far better than Labour, and needless to say, I'm not generally well disposed to the Tories. Can you quote the go-kart thing, I don't exactly get what you're trying to say.
-
Can't be arsed looking for a quote, but the idea is as well as community service (punishment) joy-riders would bw given free Go-Karting sessions ("rehabilitation" I imagine)
"Tough Lineralisim" it said in the Metro paper.
Now, I work 5 days a week in a job I friggin' hate to pay the bills and would probably haved to sell my Car 'cos I couldn't afford the insurance with 0 no claims (if it was say, stolen) that comes across somewhat skewed.

Oh, i remember that. It's deeply ****ed up. Give the free go-karting to the homeless or orphans or improverished or me, rather than to the wee scum.

Unless it's like destruction carts, the winner is the last one alive, and then he's taken to prison and raped by a big black guy called marigold who's hung like a stallion.

Fubar is a WWII acronym meaning "F**ked up beyond all repair". It usually refers to a vehicle or machinary. It's similar to Snafu, which is a WWII acronym used by army pilots, meaning "Situation normal - all fouled up."
They're pretty much similar.

Yes, that would work.

[color=66ff00]Yeah, you should have the poor pursue them and they get £100 per joyrider that they hit. Televise the whole affair.
Entertaining, good for the poor and a deterrent. Everybody's happy.

Well, I'd just go for a preventative measure and develop Burberry seeking missiles. Take out the fox-hunters and neds in a one-r.........

 I love it.

Your missing out on a big oppertunity here - get the fox hunters to hunt neds. Nobody important cares about them, unlike foxes...
Anyway, I watched the Lib Dem conference on TV (for some strange reason), and they seem to have some reasonable ideas - but when was the last time they were in power? Would they really work? Don't know if they have the follow-through.
-
Prison would be seen as an educational opportunity to help inmates with literacy and numeracy.
Sums up the Lib Dems nicely - they care all about the perpetrators of the crime and not one iota about its victims. Prison shouldn't be about reform, it's what makes it so tolerable - even attractive to those in poverty - it should be about solitary confinement and punishment. Social justice my ass.
The Lib Dems would "tax more fairly and spend more wisely" Mr Kennedy claimed.
Take fairly and wisely away from that sentence and you have a more realistic outlook on Lib Dem fiscal policy. Quite where this tax money, other than Charlie's popular policies will go has been a mystery for some months now, though.
"Isn't it a disgrace that after seven years of a supposedly Labour government the poorest 20% contribute more of their income in tax than do the richest 20%?" he asked.
This is no disgrace, it's what keeps the rich and successful in the country instead of being taxed all the way to Europe or the US. Without those richest 20% the poorest 20% would be facing the dole and our unemployment would be higher than France. No-one's going to stay in a country where the fruits of their labour are confiscated by the state. The Lib Dem proposal of a 50% higher income tax band is a myopic one.
The council tax would be replaced with a local income tax and the elderly would no longer have to pay for personal care
Wow. Way to get rid of one stupid tax by introducing another. It'd also make the average family about £200 a year worse off (on top of the council tax), because only the working population (about 50% of all people in the UK) actually pay it.
In short, a lot more statism and a step back from the rational, minimal government that would do the country the most good
-
I agree with some aspects of Lib Dem policy and disagree with other aspects. But I can't be ****ed starting yet another political arguement, so I'll continue suggesting interesting ways to horribly torture neds.
1/ Booby trapped Kappa stores (with floors that slide away, revealing a pit o' doom). When enough neds are instore, the doors lock, phhht! BANG!, doors open fresh for another batch.

That's a superb idea.

Really? I thought it was "****ed up beyond all reason" and "Situation Normal - All ****ed Up".

****ied uo beyond all recognition
Jeez, no one seen Saving Private Ryan ?

Acronyms change over time, but of course they all pale into insignificance next to:
S.M.A.K.I.B.B.F.B.

If it's a Tory idea about immigration, it's probably based upon some form of elaborate concentration camp where the blood of the masses is drained into Howards nighttime snack supply.
I'm a pro-immigration bloke, myself.
-
yeah I know, that's why I was trying to bait you!
-
I'm pro-immigration when it benefits the country (i.e. importing skilled workers who can contribute positively to the economy) rather than the current unending influx of useless benefit leeches who immediately ghettoise themselves on arrival after our excuse for customs control lets them straight through.
If the Tories wanted power they'd go many, many steps further than the Lib Dems and start taking out those worthless institutions like the Campaign for Racial Equality, the Arts Council, the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Health and Safety Executive and all the other needless drains on the public purse. But it'll never happen; politicians stick to the status quo.
-
the arts council is a needless drain?
one of the reflections of a society is the level of its culture. I don't see anything wrong with promoting the arts.
