We need new members who can take care of the following things:
Models
Textures
2d Interface
There are many simple fighters to model, which need only a simple texture. So you don't have to be an expert.
But there are also some models/textures for which we need highly skilled people.
So if you want to join send me a pm here or in the SF board.
http://starfoxmod.proboards32.com/index.cgi
(Check out the screenshots.)
If you have a good idea or a wish, please post it on our board.
-
Is no Fan here?
-
It will look like to StarWing on SNES ?? but with better Graphic and so on ??
-
We're aming for Starfox64 graphics, but only design-wise.
It will probably look much better.
But the Snes Arwing will still be flyable :)

i can prolly point you in the general direction of atalhlla, as he was doing an arwing model a while back.
-
Uhm that is his model, he joined the mod...
-
Ask an Admin to move this to Freespace Modding. Might get a better response there.

I hope you do a remake of the Independence Day rip-off level. That was my favorite(I won't be dissapointed if you can't get a talking racoon animation though). :)
-
Raccoon? I don't think there's a racoon in Star Fox... Unless I've missed something.
-
Axem, I fear there is not enough interest here...
I guess we have no choice. Post a ground test screenshot. ;7
-
Yes i Think.

MetalDestroyer: Hey, were you talking about Bill the dog? He's the closest thing to a racoon that I can think of.
DaB: Yesss massster...

Although I do think this should get moved to modding too, as that's where most of the modding does go on... ;)
-
Axem --> no, no i thinking about posted Screen ;)

Well, I'm not your master. We're equal.
And now post a shot with the LOD0 models and the non-b textures :drevil:
And BTW it was RadioactiveYeti who wrote something about a racoon. ;7
Edit: I love this shot (from the internal). Even though you can see the textures are still placeholders.
I hope I won't get slapped by Axem now :shaking:
-
The master thing was a joke DaBrain (Frankenstein, Igor, little guy that goes around doing stuff for his master going yesss massster). I think I'll have to stop resorting to regional humour around you. ;)
And I think those are non-b textures. I just renamed them so that they replaced the old textures. I'll have to try LOD0 sometime later today.
And, uh, oops. Sorry about that Metal Destroyer. I saw someone reply with an equally long name :p, and I thought it was the same person.
Edit: Nooooooooooo... :p
-
I got the Frankenstein joke...
-
you guys gonna do the Tank levels ?
-
Probably not. It's almost impossible to create a player controlled ground craft.
But you'll probably see enemy tanks.

Does anyone here know about Star Fox 64?
-
I have a 3D model of an Arwing as well, but it's the style of the new ones, though I made it on Swift 3D, which program you used to generate that SNES alike one?
-
:welcome:
-
I think the Snes one was made in Truespace.
Now when you say new ones, do you mean Star Fox 64, Star Fox Adventures, or the new one coming out next year?
Because we just might have a job for you... :D
Oh and by the way...
:welcome:

I know quite a bit about the Starfox universe. I could become your storyline consultant if you want. =P
First of all, we all need to ignore Star Fox: Adventures. It was a random game with "Star Fox" slapped onto it.
Second, base it more on Star Fox 64 than anything, since the original doesn't have enough depth. The models are much better, too.
Also, I would NOT base it on the adventures of the Star Fox team. The missions in the game are too linear. Instead, I'd base it on someone within the Star Fox (64) universe. There are a lot of people I know who have written fan fictions - many are done very, very well.
The person I would base it around is Bill Grey, but that's just me. He was in charge of the base on Katina and helped the Star Fox team on both Solar and Sector X. He's part of the Cornerian military, so a career system would be much easier, compared to the mercenary Star Fox team.
-
Sorry but the story is already (almost?) complete. :p
What you just posted is more or less what we want to create.
Starfox: Adventures won't affect our project in any aspect.
Our plot starts right after the end of SF64.
You will probably see Bill again, but he won't be a main character of the plot.
-
how about high detail "rer-visions" of classic bosses ? Like that Great Commander Ship and Blade Barrier ? They were cool. Maybe it could be a side project..
-
I mean the really new ones on the next SF game on the gamecube.
Thanks for the welcome dudes, let me show ya, hold one some mins...
-
I can host the site and provide much better forums that Proboards. I have thirty gigs of space and an almost unlimited ammount of bandwith, just something to help the Star Fox community.
You can check out my site in my profile, if interested, contact me somehow (AIM, or PM).
And nice job on the mod so far!
~Redfox
EDIT: Also, if you don't have a site, the person that did the Biohazard: Survivors site does mod sites for free.
-
Hey Fox 2k3 and Redfox McBeth! Welcome to HLP. :)
:welcome:
-
Thanks.
-
Here is the arwing sample.

-
Too... many... foxes... ;)
Now then, we have web hosting... somewhere, I'm not sure where though (someone here offered or something). :p Which is funny since I'm making the site. DaBrain should be able to give you better information about that stuff.
-
Meh, you still need a better forum than Pro freaking boards. Oh I loathe.
-
Fox: That sample's alright for an example.
Yeah, and if any of you need to ask any Star Fox related questions, http://www.sfx64.com/vbb is the place to go.

Not sure about that. But we will focus on SF64 feeling first.
Captital ships will be more important than in the other SF games.

Thanks for the offer. :)
But I can't decide a board change on my own. I'll wait for what Killfrenzy says.
Zarax offered webspace a while ago.

You probably own swift3d, huh?
A 3d flash animation. But we already got a model for the new arwing.
But we still need some enemy crafts.

I'll take a look. And you're right it's a nice example, but we aim for more detailed ship. (I know you're going for te SF1 look).
Edit: Pheew ;)

Would it be ok if I make 'em? because I dunno if Swift3D it's ok for your mod.
-
I could....find certain tools for you to use if you need them...
Edit: And I could be a backup mirror or something with the FTP server set up on my computer. o.o
-
That's a good idea.
I upload my stuff on swooh, which is ok most of the time. But it's really slow sometimes. That is pretty bad I I need i.e. Axem to get a file fast.
But how fast can you upload? And is your PC online (and on) all the time?

We just got two great composers, but noone is really active at modeling (well Killfrenzy IS working on something, but has not much time ATM), so yes we need a modder.
We can use almost any format. Prefered is: *.cob or *.3ds.
It would be great to have LODed models, but as the enemies are low poly anyway, it's not that important. An example of your work would be nice.
Edit: I've just started unwraping. And I'm really bad at it, so if you are able to unwrap your models, that'd be great.
-
Don't use me as the ONLY mirror. It's on about 98% of the time. The FTP service turns of before I log in, so it's only off while rebooting.
My upload? Don't know the true number. Last time I sent a single file I was at about 95KB/s. o.O I'll give you upload access if you want, I just need a username and password.
ftp://24.189.(nobots)240.241
-
Sure, a Mirror is ok. Just in case swooh is down, or super-slow. Which (IMHO) doesn't happen as often as many people claim.
-
There goes my idea of making that mod for FS2............
StarFox 64? well either im missing something, or this is a diffrent game. But i understand most of the stuff you're talking about - arwing, macbeth, karitha base. Anyway ive got a game called "Lylatwars", its probably similar or just has a diffrent name. anyway you've gotta kill a guy called Andross, some mad scientist or something.
-
Yeah.
Star Fox = Lylat Wars = Star Wing.
-
wow, so many diffrent names for the same game......
why?
-
No, Star Fox was the SNES game, renamed Star Wing in Europe 'cos Atari (I think) hold the StarFox name from a game made x years ago.
Star Fox 64 and Lilet Wars (*snigger*) is the N64 versions renamed for the same reason.
-
Lylat Wars, noob. =P
Yeah. My computer's almost never off, so use me as a secondary download location. <=D
-
what, you never heard that joke when it first came out ?:wtf:
who you callin noob, n00b ?!
-
oooookkkkaaaayyyy, wut joke?
-
When Lylat Wars first released all the Playstation Boys called it Lilet Wars after the towel ladys need at that time o' the month.
-
I think you might need to get a bit more explicit than that there, mag. Albiet, isn't it 'lillet'
-
I tend to circumnavigate those particular isles in Tescos....
Anyway, you wanna spell it out to for 'em Mr White ? :p lol
-
nope thats ok, i got it.
-
Yeesh - this is what happens when I'm not paying attention. :D
To give a little more insight into how the mod's being done, all we can say is that THREE Arwing designs will be included, along with as many enemies as we can do. The storyline will be set after SF64 but before SFA, that way we can safely ignore SFA without really trying!
Much of the current work is revolving around implementation using the FS2 engine. Since Starfox is known for its ground missions, the efforts of the team are focused in this area.
There will be a heavier space combat element seeing as FS2 is a space combat sim, hence we should utilise its primary function!
-
what about the sub. mission ?:)
-
I suppose it's doable with the joys of nebula editing, but we'd need an excuse in the storyline....:)
-
Now that HLP is back, we're back hiring. ;)
We really need modders for some simple low-poly models. (slightly more complex than in Starfox64) Just some enemy ships.
PM me and I'll send you the internal-password, also needed for all downloads.
-
*bump*

Still searching.
