It's not 'sposed to be shivan, just hostile.
What do you guys think of this ? I'm not really sure if it's gonna work....:doubt:

the idea is somethin' familiar but kinda freaky (and obviously hostile) and I haved to use stock/ exisiting textures.

Try using Iceni textures then... They MIGHT give some better results...

Use at least some of the existing Orion textures, but grey-scaled. For the hull texture (i.e. the blue one which you;ve replaced with that 'jaggy' one), what you do is get a burn or black spraypaint tool... create a blacked out region on the texture (several is better).
Select it with a colour-mask, this should select the pure black inner region (the shaded exterior should be unselected).
The select a Shivan texture, and paste it into the selected region. It should look like it has been sunk into the hull, which is pretty cool if it works.
For example; (5 minutes work, no quality control :) But you get the idea)

EDIT; Should point out, you;re best using a brush with a big gradient... I used a burn tool here, which had a sharp gradient, so there's a sharp transition between the filled in Shivan bits and the original hull texture.

But why would anyone want to make a cleary terran ship have a shivan paint job.
Unless they tore the armour off a shivan ship and used it on an orion, but then it wouldn't be necessarily hostile.

Well, it isn't really finished, from the looks of it. Magatsu should probably have finished texturing first. Other than that, it isn't THAT bad.

Anywho. I never liked the original Orion. Thought it looked like a Lego monstrosity. I never understood mapping ships with shivan maps to make them 'evil,' either. And I did say that I wasn't fond of it. And since that automatically makes it my opinion, I'm free to keep it. Wether you like it or not, I think it's ugly, and a waste of energy. He could be making other, better ships, instead of wasting time on upgrading a horrible base design. My opinion.

Let's assume Shivans changed their tactics a bit...
I mean, wwe know nothing about them, so it's not far fetched if after beeing outsmarted by the GTVA (twice), they try something new..
Besides, you can make it look run down, blaasted, as tough it has been in a battle and lost, left adrift...The shivans (or someone else) took over then...

Hybridised armour, I guess. (i.e. rogue GTVI anyone?).
Albeit I've always felt hybrids should be completely new, not using a combination of existing maps.

It looks hostile yes........but it looks too Shivan. You might try using the Saphah textures from Derelict if anything. My personal opinion is go out and get a different new destoyer all together. Redone Orions are kinda played out IMO:nod:

Already am doing. Might try some tile mods like Aldo suggested aswell though.

As usual I've already stolen those two textures the day they were posted! :P
Don't worry about it, I think we all go through our "Shivinized [insert model here] phase". And I think it was a cool idea... The MOST important thing is how YOU feel about it. Use it or dump it, the rest can pike off. (this is in the top 5 of modding rules)...

Whether or not the Shivan hybrid idea works, I so think that the model itself could go over well as an upgraded Orion variant. Just slap standard Orion textures or perhaps some FS2 style ones, and you've got an upgraded Orion, with a higher top speed (thanks to the extra engine) and another fighterbay in the nose. Just needs FS2-ish turrets. Now, a while back, Raptor made a re-gunned orion model and he was considering replacing the mini-stub guns on the side with more dish-oriented ones, like the big ones on the Colossus. Dish guns would look good for this model, if its intended as an FS2-ish Orion upgrade.

I've decide it's the diabolical plan of a rogue NTF General to construct an evil, evil ship to further his insane lust for power. And it's powered by the stolen souls of dead fighter pilots and has a sort of twisted evil will of it's own. That's how evil it is.

I'll say it's evil, it uses giant horseshoe magnets as it's primary cannons! :p
That's better, but it's still quite plainly shivan textures. If you've got a reason or are using this for something parody-related, then it's fine. But if it's for a serious campaign use something a little more obscure for the textures.
