Title: SCP installed, and the troubles begin..
Post by: freespacegundam on September 25, 2004, 05:36:32 pm
Okay, recently downloaded build 3.6 in order to play the game without using my busted third cd.  Now, I ran into a couple of problems.

1.  No stars, either all the Sathani went on a nova spree, or something is seriously wrong here.

2.  Whenever a beam is fired, the game freezes, bad mojo for this game.

I'm going to attempt to force the game to play with only default FS2 features, but even that may not be enough.  I need some help, badly.

*wishes he knew what the command line options were*

System Specs.

Windows XP
Pentium Processor 2 gig
224 MB ram
Sis650 display.

On another note, why is it now that the Open has completely fried my poor freespace into noncompliance whenever I try to load a mission in the tech sim?  I get this

C:\Projects\freespace2\code\GlobalIncs\WinDebug.cpp
Line 1121

the regular one, I even tried deleting open and it still gives me that strange error message with the "you don't have enough memory" line.

I don't think it even works with open, but I'll check.

Restart your computer to refresh the virtual memory and give it another go. (FSopen has some serious memory leakage problems)

I'll give that a go, but the problems still remain.  Is it impossible for me to run FSOpen?  I heard something about having on onboard graphics card screwing it up, and being that this thing is storebought, it probably is.

It may be incompatible. Or "less than optimally" compatible.

Those SiS cards kinda suck. Keep trying, be useful to know whther or not it works. Stay tuned for taylor's SCP without the GFX build ;)

Okay, I've deleted the open files, but now freespace can't play simulator missions without giving me the above error, is there something I have to undo manually or is my freespace just dead?

The command line options are best used with SCP version of the launcher, it will be under the flag tab. I think Random Tiger made the launcher, I may be wrong.

Random Tiger is right, thats why it has the cool paw-print logo.

I've lost my cd3, you dont need it to install. Just make sure the install options are set not to install any of the cutscenes that are on disc 3.
