Title: City Of God - Best Film Ever?
Post by: an0n on October 01, 2004, 12:13:53 am
I know most of you are too stupid to watch films where you need subtitles, but for the handful of you that can tie your own shoelaces, I highly recommend this film.

In my books it ranks right up the with Lost In Translation and Aliens.

It's set out kinda like Pulp Fiction, with the various people's parts in the overall tale being focused on individually, but it's got a ****load more plot, death and character emotion than Pulp Fiction could ever hope to have.

The cinematography kicks ass. The music kicks ass. The plot kicks ass. The acting kicks ass. Everything about this movie just screams "Absolute classic".

I love this film and I'm absolutely ****ing ecstatic to have it on DVD.

yeah, its been out for a while.

to tell you the truth, I was a bit disapointed. The rest of my family, who never heard of it, thought it was great, but I guess my expectations were too high or something.

great movie, just not, you know, great great.

I had massive expectations, and while it didn't go the way I thought it would, I was still impressed.

By the end you actually start to give a **** about Ned, Lil' Ze and Rocket. And Benny was the ****ing man.

nah, I still thought it was awesome.

and yeah, Benny was cool. Thought from the cover, I was kind of expecting the chick (Angela was it??) to play a bigger role.

It was an unbelievably beautiful film, true. Too bad ROTK grabbed the cinematography oscar from it.

You really have a way of making people enthusiastic....

This film is on my 'maybe' pile though because I have heard good things about it from other people.....

Heres the normal cover, or North American it appears. I dunno, seems kind of wierd to put a chicken on the front, even though it could be argued that it was kind of important.

Clave: see it, its very good. Don't mind me, I tend to feel this way about movies which miss my expectations by even a bit, but that doesn't mean its any less brilliant.
