Heres a progress report on the Hammerhead.... Please give some input or suggestions for accuracy. It really sucks that there are no reliable blueprints for this thing.
Aldo's mesh served as the foundation for my version. Thanks Aldo. At the moment its at 800 polys. Perhaps I'll make this LOD2 and Aldos will be LOD3.

That looks pretty good. But two things come into my mind:
1) I think there where no guns on the wings. He had a movable gun under the nose, and a rotating turret on the back.
2) The end of the engines are not correct. They whereare not so straight and round, but more obligue. Move some of the other polies more to toward the wing (I hope this is understandable, I cannot explain it right.
(edit), scratch that. Here, If found a reference for you. However it is also a fan scetch, so maybe it isn't 100% correct.

WHOA!!!! REFERENCE!!!!! You're my personal savior!!! Time for some adjustments. How accurate are those diagrams? Its been so long since I've seen that show.

Do you need screen captures of the Hammerheads in action? Or on the runway, beauty shots ect... I have like 20 of the episodes...

I can't say how accurate they are, they are certainly fan-drawn. However, when I look at the side-shot is looks pretty good, I have
it so in my memory.
@Robo G : Maybe get some shots from that episode where Col.Ty fights chickie van richthofen, there are some pretty good shots of the
hammerhead.

NB: I had some official, IIRC, imags of the Hammerhead design to work with, and it does have gun like bits on the end of the wingtips.

I'm getting right on it (hunts for CD's)...
[edit]: Dammit, it was epidoe 15, but when I transferred all my SAAB episodes I misnumbered 3 of them and the real ep 15 was never transferred and got deleted!!! (really pissed off)! it was lie my favorite episode! (sigh)...
I'll jus start watching it again and take a few here or there

WOW design flaw, if you notice the rear Top turret does not elevate and yet is in the front firing position (5-10 FOV obviously). How in the hell can it turn to the rear? Wouldn't it bang against the side molding? They need to raise the base connector by half a foot at least! Otherwise just have it pointed to rear 100%...

The top one seems to indicate wingtip 'barrels', the bottom doesn't. (bottom one isn't CGI of course). Odd goof, that.

Star Dragon, you ROCK!!! Where did you get those captures!? Do you have the episodes downloaded? If so, PM me how you got them (which P2P network)
Aldo, the reference pictures I've used are the same ones as yours. I'm just not too wild about the picture size. But so far, those seem to be the most accurate. I think I got the fighter about 90 percent correct. The wing tips dont look so big on the screencaps of Getter though.
I'm gonna have to fashion NEW missile pylons though, since Freespace does not utilize missile models attached to the ship. Perhaps I'll model some kind of missile launcher.
I do have a feeling that I will have MUCH difficulty modelling the Chigh battleship. Its TOO COMPLEX!!! :)

I just made those captures.. back when my CD-r was working (windows is fragged it seems not more burning for me!), I Dl'ed all the SAAb episodes like 3 years ago and put them on 4 or 5 cd's...
I have 2 or 3 eps on my HD still but my favorite one is gone! (15 Angriest Angel).. Damn I tried to get it again but never can find it. I only keep the cd's instead of buying the dvd (if any are sold) for modding purposes... I did a few voice captures and mission briefs before DG pulled the plug on SAAB TC...

If you need any more caps I have a bunch of the episodes on VCD (Including 15) from when they were posted on Usenet a couple of years back. I could dig them out and capture stuff pretty easily if I have the episode in question. :)

looks a little small to me (in the Tv series). I'd thought it'd atleast be bigger than a Flanker for example.
