Title: Repairing your ship
Post by: Fmstrat on October 04, 2004, 10:03:05 am
OK, I must be retarded.  So I got damaged in a fight, then we won, and I went to jump back and it said I had engine damage and couldn't.  So I figured out how to target the nearest repair ship, but how do I actually get him to repair me?  All I could get him to do was reload me.

You can't.  Support ships by default only repair subsystems and reload.

However, the SCP added the ability to have your hull repaired by the support ship.  This is, I believe, set by a toggle in FRED, so it's on a per-mission basis.  And rarely used, AFAIK.

Are you sure, though, that your jumpdrive wasn't disabled untril you completed an objective?  Normally your engine, etc, should slowly auto-repair anyways (unless it's an actual physical subobject, which can't be repaired once destroyed)

Well, I played around for like 20 minutes and didn't notice any form of repair happening.  When I tried to jump, it said something like "Engine failure, cannot jump due to damage."

Odd.  I can't say I've played FS recently (at least, not had my engines blew off recently), so i'm not sure, but they should regenerate AFAIK.

It's a known issue.
You should change your difficulty level or use a newer build.

Nobody fix it. It convinces people to play on harder difficulty levels, thus increasing their skills (you have to play it harder to be harder to beat ;) ).

Replace your 3.6 exe with this one

http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/fs2_open_3_6.exe

The engine bug's been fixed as of last night (Thank goober for that one).

I had no idea so many people played on Very Easy until that bug appeared. :shaking:

Hence the reason why I never ran into it when it first started.

Because usually, i play for fun, not to get frustrated trying to beat it on a higher one...

I like to play on Medium. A little challenge is good.

A couple years back, I used to play on easy all the time, though. But then it got frustrating (your enemies get weaker, BUT SO DO YOUR WINGMEN :nervous: ).

A single stray subach shot on very-easy would take down a wingmen's shield. :wtf:
