Tada, thanks HLP for working so hard to bring us back!

Fun indeed. I wish we could take credit, though. Just good to be back, really. :)

Yay. I just hope it'll be more reliable from now on :doubt:

We shall have to wait and see :)

As I told to IPAndrews, I didn't think that the downtime is/was necessarily a bad thing. It have been proved from time to time again that some people just get more done during these downtimes, since there is no HLP to distract them. :)

Sigma, *hint* *hint*. ;)

I fully expect to see some SCP goodiness in the next few days, don't let me down guys. ;)

I hope so, we really need that well working fred2_open build which also has the latest features supported. :)

Thank you taylor for your efforts. :)

Goober did make a new version of FRED2 in the mean time but not many bugs were fixed (The new SEXPs though are great!)

That is actually quite sad since fred2_open is holding the SCP project back. What good is neat fs2_open if fredders are having hard time to make use of the new features which are not supported by older, stable builds of fs2_open.

Oh well, it'll get better over time I guess.

Taylor says he is working on it a bit but that he heard that Random Tiger is back and that since RT is better aquainted with FRED he was leaving it to him.

So far though I find the FRED problems more annoying than impossible to solve. Apart from the Y-axis and waypoints problem and the briefing icon problem are you getting any other major problems?

Hell, we already got our no banking in the TI forum. Assuming that made CVS, then as far as I'm concerned the downtime was productive for the SCP. :D

I haven't personally used later fred2_open builds since they are no good because of graphical problems, includes missing background, missing waypoints, no icons in briefing editor. And maybe there was some OGL crashes, can't remember.

We had been hanging out there for communication purposes.

We're also working on a new website :)

I learned c++ and created a brand new bugfree fs2 engine with geomod and many other goodiness

Your story would have been a lot more credible if you would have said that your hard drive crashed. Getting a computer virus in the first place is so.... green. :)

As far as FRED is concerned, I foresee a few additions above the previously mentioned problems, that must be made before a build should recieve the stamp of 3.6.

1) as mentioned, fix Y-elevation, waypoint paths, & briefing animation bugs

2) incorporate support for jpg, tga, & dds for background images & ship textures

3) functional support for Kazan's multi-species additions

4) ensure all new sexps work properly (Hint, Goober, check your SG PMs)

5) Perhaps, patch in new model code to reduce load times, so it loads the ibx instead of the pof, but this is not an absolute necessity.

6) Support the higher number of background images that Lightspeed has been pushing for.

As far as I'm concerned, with the exception of 5, all of the above need to be completed before FRED can be considered on a par with FSO, in supporting the primary features.

Later!

I got the PM.  (Doesn't SG give read receipts?) I just haven't had time to test it.
