I need a couple of people who:
a) Have a more or less working copy of FRED
Fred 3.5.5 will NOT do, it will have to be a relatively up-to-date version. It does not have to work 100% - but if it can do the most basic stuff it'll be alright (waypoints and briefing does not matter, for example). Just make sure it starts :)
If you don't have a build and are interested: Try if this one works for you (http://www.penguinbomb.com/lightspeed/SCP/fred2_open_c04282004.zip)
It works for me.
b) Have enough time
Depending on how much people want to help me, expect to spend anywhere from five to ten hours total on the job. It is not really time critical, so you should have time enough.
c) Are patient enough to re-work their results numerous times
Since it probably won't be perfect on first-try :)
You do NOT require any special FREDding skills - it's okay as long as you can open FRED and browse and read the menus :p
I won't go into specifics here, if you want to help me (and i'd be really grateful), just PM me, and I will fill you in the details. Do not PM me if you cannot help me (see a) b) and c) ). I will only say so much: You'd help to bring the SCP into a whole new era *hint hint * ;)
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help :)

DX9?
:D

Oddly, (or perhaps not) FRED 3.5.5 can do all those things. So what exactly is your problem with it?
-
That will be made clear if you sign up. Lighty is correct though. 3.5.5 wouldn't be suitable.
No reason why you can't keep 3.5.5 for FREDding with normally and use a more recent version of FRED for this project though.

One thing I noticed that I forgot to mention in the PM, lately versions seem to not have the ability to show ship outlines. Is this a bug? Is this also suppose to be affecting the Fred version you posted for DL?
-
Thanks for your support everyone :)
Got seven people down so far. ;)

Well, whatever it is, it has errors on exit about being unable to swap buffers. (Two errors) ;)
But it does run quick, and the ships look beautiful... if a little off when moving. :p

The swap buffer errors are normal - They were fixed with later builds, but those broke thousands of more important features.
