This all comes as no surprise. But I want the PC version, cuz multiplay has gotta be a major factor in those rankings, and I'm not getting X-Box Live.

Right now, I'm taking HL2 for granted because

1) It's not out yet.
2) I have a ticket to get it for free (came with my ATI 9600 )
3) I never played Half-Life

I'm also a lot more into the Halo story and stuff, so yeah...

It'll come. To not port it at all would be a huge mistake. Especially financially.

Just hope it's not Gearbox again............

Albeit Halo2 is reportedly a lot more optimised for the X-box architecture, so a Pc port would be more difficult and thus expensive - and also more unlikely.

Not that you'd be missing too much, though - Pc is the king of FPS anyways, what would be a big FPS on the xbox is just another fish in the sea on the PC.

Halo 2 Xbox has 1.5 million preorders, I think financially the PC version might be a money hole for the gain to be gotten from it. I really think MS might want to keep this exclusive, if not permanently, for a long while.

I'd like to see a PC version though, just a better port this time around.

To be honest (RE: screenies), I don't think Halo2 looks much better than, for example, Jedi Academy on the PC.  It seems all very angular - i.e. plain and low detailed.  Original had that problem, too.

I'm starting to be reminded of when every freakin' game that game out was more or less a duplicate of Street Fighter:

Mortal Kombat, Tekken, etc etc etc.

Now you have:

Unreal, Doom, Quake, Half-Life, Halo....

At least the Thief series still stands pretty unique :).  No crosshairs and killing everyone is the fastest way to lose.

And how would adding another... at least Half a million sales on PC, be a money pit?

Who cares, all I know is that I've played the game for about 14 hours now and I've barely even looked at the single player part. It's very very good.

Haven't played a FPS multiplayer in well over 9 months, and I played H2's deathmatch for 8 hours straight today. If anything I'd say the basic play dynamic has been altered in the way FS2 was to FS1.

Oh and the energy sword is a ****ing satisfying weapon to chop up enemy ass with.

Already finished the main campaign on co-op. Twice. :D The story is fantastic, quite complicated - that's why my brother and I are going through again so quickly, so we get it all. Quite involving stuff. :)

I have a feeling it'll be short, but if the 10 hour start-to-finish claims are true then it'll still offer more play time than most/all other FPSs, purely through Halo's rather unique virtue of replayability.

more like 15, but there's quite a lot of story to digest properly..

Spoiler:
i especially found sarge amusing, particularly when talking to the brutes, and 343 guilty spark "don't shake the lightbulb!"

You'll need to play it through at least twice to catch all the story. The subtitles are kind of useful because a lot of what the prophets say can slip past you. But yeah, I feel it's only a little shorter than the original - but it's far more dense, the action is really tight, the story moves along rapidly, and it doesn't have that stretched out feeling that the original had when you were going back through the old sections in Two Betrayals and the Maw.

Spoiler:
Yeah Turnsky, I found there was generally more humour in the whole thing actually. Have you finished the whole thing yet? I'm most intrigued by the Gravemind, myself...

Agreed, HIG. Just a matter of time now. :p

Spoiler:
I was expecting the sudden ending too, but now the only question on my mind is: when are we going to go back and rescue Cortana?!!
Title: The reviews are in...
Post by: Gloriano on November 12, 2004, 08:29:52 am
Well...

Spoiler:
Cortana sounded kinda evil in end when he said to that Flood God "Shoot" maybe she turned evil

well maybe next Halo happens in Earth only where MC would go after Covenant remaining forces and then finding Ark

gotta wait new halo books if they explain it
