Perhaps I played it too late, but I wasn't impressed by the original Halo much at all. Mediocre graphics, and downright stupidly planned levels (can anyone say "repetitive"?).

Because it's not.;)  Bungie wanted do well made and balanced game for Xbox, now that Halo2 is done. sooner or later someone does conversion to PC. and Bungie only has 60 workers and all them worked HALO2 for Xbox

Halo2 is not out for PC because MS need a Christmas 'blockbuster' game exclusive to x-box.  Offhand, as a non-X-box owner, I can't think of a single x-box exclusive other than Halo2 due for xmas (and only Fable before that).

Of course, I thought Halo (PC) was the most overrated game in history (10/10 - wtf?), so I wouldn't buy Halo2 for either xbox or Pc anyways.

My bro gets Halo 2 as soon as its out. He'll be playing it along with my cousins (we're all pitching in to buy the game) on my uncle's XBox.

Only problem is, currently my bro is in Singapore.

And currently I am in India. XBoxs are not popular here, therefore the chances of getting to play Halo2 in India for the next 2 years = -0299 x Infinity.
(in other words, nill, zip, nada, nothing)

on hte other hand....when i go back, I have two days within which to finish the game before going back to work. So BOOYAH! I get the game :P

From what I hear, Bungie did not do any of the repetitive thing. As for graphics, HAVE YOU LOOKED AT ANY OF THE SCREENSHOTS? Those are near-Doom 3 graphics coming from an Xbox, of all things.

meh, my vid card is fried and isn't replacable by the HL2 release date, so i went ahead and picked up Halo2 tonight.

much improved over the original.

needless to say, if you loved the first, you'll **** yourself here. if you didn't like the first, rent it in a week or so because enough has improved that you might like it now.

ok, i can almost understand why people might say HalfLife was overrated. afterall the graphics were old even at the time. the gameplay is simple : run, shoot, shoot some more. hell, if you were to analyze each component of HL, i doubt even i would give any one of them higher than an 9.0. which is why it's so cool that HL manages to be better than the sum of all its parts. and why it is the best PC Game ever.

and i find it interesting that the opening scene in Halo2 is a shuttle rail ride ;)

Because some people didn't particularly like HL.  I didn't, to be honest - largely due to hating that tentacle monster thing.

Even the best game ever won't entertain everyone.  Even if they like the genre itself.

Nope, cos it was intensely irritating.  Stupid tippy-tappy gameplay which required, IIRC, following a very dull formula of something like chuck grenade - run - chuck grenade, etc.  And other stuff put me off, which I can't remember offhand.

There are plenty of games I can't beat (fairly), that doesn't mean I don't like them.  In fact, that includes several of my favourites - I've never got 100% on any GTA game, never done all the missions on Startopia, never finished Cybernator (SNES), etc.  I'm **** at games, but it never stoped me enjoying them.

I hate scripted sequences. You spend ages gettin' yer ass nailed 'cos you don't know what to do, then you figure it out, then it's piss easy. The bosses in Undying were like that.

Firstly, Halo was overrated, but still fun as hell and it felt "right" (I don't need ammo to kill with my gun), it was even fun despite the way the weapons were ****ed up

Secondly, hype means nothing, FS/FS2=greatest games ever, under=hyped

Once you've read the books, played Halo 1, and played the 1st quarter of Halo 2, you'll find that all those questions have already been answered.

A sweeet cutscene, introducing the Elite character you sometimes play as. Then it goes to the MC. The MC and the rest are on Cairo station, a Super MAC Gunstation, and the MC is just getting fitted out. A little bit later, Johnson comes (dressed in a fancy service coat) and takes you on an lift to the main room. You engage in a little chit-chat, talk about the fifty or so Super MAC guns around Earth, and arrive to meet the admiral and recieve your decorations (medal). Oh, Keyes Daughter, Miranda, is also there, receiving the medal for her late father.

Regarding the 'game from the Covenant perspective', the reviews didn't like it much but I think it's very sweet. I suppose the Covenant talking English is necessary for it, but they should've at least kept their original death screams. Such is my only criticism of the game so far :p

I absolutely love the energy sword. Given the choice of a gun or the sword, I'll usually take the sword (except if I need to kill hunters or vehicles). Its particularly useful against the Flood, as it completely destroys them, preventing the little bastards from reviving the bodies.
Even after the energy runs out, you can just beat the **** out of enemies with the hilt.

Is it just me, or have the Flood recieved a MAJOR improvement in regards to toughness? I can't seem to effectively kill them with anything short of a Plasma Sword or Shotgun (every other non-explosive weapon may as well be a BB gun for all it stops them).

Even after the energy runs out, you can just beat the **** out of enemies with the hilt.

The sword, and dual magnums kick so much ass.  I just got out of a multi game where me and one other person took on two teams of 4, we played about 7 games.... and we won 4 of them, :D

Yep, in addition to that, the infection Flood can revive corpses, and some of the Covenant Flood have shields.

God, don't remind me. They're even harder when they go melee, and I don't mean when they whack you with their gun, I mean when they roar, drop their gun and charge you like a pissed off horny ape.

Yep. That's when a brute shot melee to the face comes in real handy. ;)  Or the sword... that thing kicks so much ass it isn't funny.

Yeah, that Brute shot is more viscious as a melee weapon, which is what I use it as when I cant find a sword. Rips through Jackals just as easily as the sword does.
