I'm going to be a pedant here but the song was actually written about his dog Daisy May. So I've read in a few different interviews anyway. :)

I'm trying to work out whether this thread is about songs about drugs, songs written on drugs, or songs to listen to on drugs.

From the examples Anon posted, I'd say it's songs that are specifically about drugs, something like 'Cocaine' by Eric Clapton.

When I'm stoned, Soundgarden - Applebite scares the living **** out of me.
I saw the true God when I listened to the album Aenima by Tool when I was tripping.

I grew up spending many a stoned evening listening to Alice, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, MotherLoveBone, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots etc etc etc ;)

It's a shame, I was born a decade too late, I love most of the early 90's stuff but was just a bit too young to appreciate it at the time.

I'm lucky, I sort of missed 'Disco' and went straight in at 'Grunge' ;)
The Alternative and Rock markets out there are pretty weak these days, it seems to be full of Aerosmith wannabees, or some kind of 'Corporate Punk' which is the ultimate Oxymoron. Even the mainstream Heavy Rock market has just been turned into 'Distorted Guitars to Dancebeats'. This, more than piracy, is why singles sales have slumped.

Amen to that, try telling the suits though,
I guaranntee you that the reason that commercial rock is dead has a lot to do with Clearchannel running the radio stations in America. Creed all the way baby, yech.
The underground has never been so promising though, if you are into modern heavy music this is undoubtedly the time to be alive.
