As the name suggests it's inspired by a lego model by me, here's the lego version of the Cerberus:
and...the actual 3d model of the Cerberus:

Feedback, comments, questions?
Poly count is 1269.
and the ship is aimed to be about Destroyer size...if not a big bigger...(about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 kilometres long)
-
Legos...the birthplace of legends....
:nervous: What?
Anyway, the model doesn't look...freespacey.
Interesting concept though...maybe you could call it..."The Magnet..."
Or maybe...THE HAMMERHEAD....OF...DOOOOOM!
-
meh, that's alright it if doesn't looks freespacey...It'll probably be for a mod sooner or later ;D
-
Here's some concept art for your ship : (http://www.hanstool.com/images/product/1151M-A.jpg)
Beware the Ancients' Giant Wrench of Node Deconstruction, their final defense against the Shivans! :drevil:
Well, on the constructive side - it does not feel like a FS capship, that's for sure. It's to square-edged for a vasudan ship, but still to slim for a terran ship. It's hard to tell at this point, as the model is very basic.
By the way, I constantly have to think of that carrier from WCP:SO named "Zerberus" - that's probably the reason why it reminds me of various WC ships.
-
...well...like I said...it's not planned on being freespacey...
as for the lack of detail, I'll get onto it sooner or later...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you didn't say that. :) Well, just keep at it. It looks nice nonetheless. Just an idea : reinforce the lower part of the front section, make it extend towards that long middle part. That should make it look less engine-heavy.
Edit : vocabulary. :doubt:
-
ya...I'm planning on doing that...it's supposed to be a hanger...but...well...plans change...
-
That could look very Freespace-y, actually.
It was originally a Vasudan destroyer design, but the Vasudans never built it, then some Terran engineer stumbled across the blueprints and modified them a bit...
-
Thats tight. Never thought of using lego models as designs before. Good idea.
-
My instincts say it could fit better in the Star Wars universe.
-
Seems kind of Wing Commanderish to me
-
One of my better-recieved 3D models was actually based on a five-piece lego creation...
-
I´m sorry to say that it does look like a wrench i have in my workshop...
-
It doesn't HAVE to be FreeSpacey! I think it's ok.
But personally, I like the LEGO(TM) version BETTER!
Everytime I see a LEGO(TM) ship, I think the REPLICATORS are comming for my ass!
(hint to the SG-1 Team, make LEGO(TM) Replicator ships!)
-
Add some "wings" on the side of the middle bit and bulk it up a bit.
-
Or...paint it yellow and give it to Axem!
"Just Another Day-With Yellow Wrenches"
It writes itself! ;7

:wtf: Yeeeah... killer wrenches from space. I'm sure that'll happen... when Shivans fly! A-hahah... Wait...
Seriously, I think someone should make a Lego Mod with all the old M-Tron and Space Police sets. That would be awesome.
-
im sorry but the ship looks like one of my old designs.... if i can i will post it so u can see...
-
Good. I always liked that one, but it needs detail.
-
note to Corhellion:
needs more polys
1269 polys on capship = gay

Must be a pretty common ship design. It also kind of looks like one of my ship drawings.
-

What you want is some Blacktron, mate. ;7
Ah, back in the day I was really into Lego. I've still got crates of the stuff somewhere....
-
Needs more small detail. At the moment, it looks like it wants to be fairly big, but without texs or anything to judge size by, it looks underdetailed, especially for that polycount.
-
Everyone who commented on it looking like a wrench: Meh! It's my design! and yes I'll bump up the poly count.
FS2pilot: STFU n00b, I've had a ****ty week (mom may have cancer, sis got taken out of school, ex-g/f won't speak to me anymore), so just piss the **** off, alright?!
Sorry admins/mods but I've got a valid reason to be ****ing pissed...
And everyone else, thanks for the comments/feedback I'll get onto added some details to it, I just need a rough estimate as to what's a good healthy poly count for a destroyer/super destroyer sized warship.
kthnxbye

(A lego mod?...hmmmm...:thepimp: )

You = asshat.
You do realize that every V ship is less than 1000 polies, for the most part, don't you?
Here's an idea: Make something better. And even then you don't have the right to ridicule other's efforts.
Or better yet:
Think.
Post.
Note how 'Think' comes before 'Post.' We don't need people being asses here.
And stop using gay in that context. It's incorrect, it's annoying, and it truly shows the content of your character.
-
You know, 1269 is a pretty homosexual number...
-
We already know your character... :doubt:

@Corhellion
Most of the polycount on that model is used on the engine cilinders. Get rid of them and try a new aproach. Don´t make them hollow, and use booleans as little as possible.
Also, i think every modellers has fallen into the death trap of showing off their work too soon. I know i did, when i first got here. So i sugest that you hold off the showing untill you had a chance to add detail on it, and get confortable using the tools of your modeling program.
And don´t get discouraged by bad reviews, we all have had those in some point. Push on, keep working, and you´ll get there.
And please, have fun doing it. If you´re not having fun at it, you´re doing it wrong.
:p
