First chapter of the Desperation campaign.
Copy and paste the link below. Its sphosting so a direct click wont work. I dont have any FTP program atm, so i can upload it to swooh either. Hoping the validity of the .rar (sphosting doesnt accept .rar) inside the zip holds out to be correct.
The campaign is based on the story i submitted for FA, and is created entirely in FRED2. You play Alpha 1 of the 116th Black Knights squadron, but there is no time for introductions as a distress signal has come in from the Nebula, and your wing is the only one available to check it out.
And so begins the desperate adventure to escape from an oncoming shivan armada!
Enjoy!

Arrgh...errors out. IE can't or won't access the site, it won't say which.
-
strange...i can access it fine.
Edit: or not. I'll fix it when I get back to Singapore and a FTP program.
-
Works for me.
Edit : I put up a mirror here (http://www.mynetcologne.de/~nc-muenchma2/Desperation.zip) , just in case.
-
Singh: PM me and i'll give you my email so i can upload it to my penguinbomb site
-
wont matter. I dont have the file with me atm - its in my pendrive, and I cant upload it to this PC (no usb port).
I'll upload it again in a few hours.
-
nevermind, mitac already uploaded it.
-
Thanks for hte mirror Mitac. I've added it to the original post as well.
Come on...no feedback? Does anyone actually PLAY FS2 anymore? :P :(
-
I finished JAD yesterday, after some sort of FS break. I'll give your campaign a try this weekend. :)
-
i was going to play it this weekend.
-
Excellent! Hope you enjoy :D
(tip: take something with a load of secondaries...you aint getting re-supply)
-
Played this on Medium in one go, didn't have to play any mission twice, this should be played on at least Hard difficulty if you want anything resembling a challenge.
One thing that caught my attention was that in the subspace chase mission, the Shivans didn't launch any fighters to escort their bombers. Without any cover or shields, the bombers die too easily. I'm positive that the Julius didn't get hit even once in that mission.
Not amazing, but quite enjoyable and solid. Hard to find many faults in it, other than it being a bit short. Good job, I'm looking forward to chapter 2.
-
You guys suck. Making a campaign like this in such little time. :p
-
Oh yeah in the mission before the Subspace chase the SJ's Beams killed the Deimos and in the next mission I bumped into the Deimos and it blew up.
-
I'm very slowly playing through it (Roughly 1.5 missions per day so far :D) and it seems pretty good.
-
Singh : I ran into plenty of small to medium issues. I'll PM you.
-
Played it. Looks good.
Mission 1: OK, but the enemy jumps too close.
Mission 2: OK, but same problem. Playing in easy I was under heavy flak in no time and lost two wingmates in less than 15 seconds.
-
Well its pretty good. The only problems i saw were:
Minor spelling/grammar errors
When the Julius went into the jump node in the nebula, it exited in the same nebula or what?
No debriefing on the last mission
-
all minor issues it looks like I'll have to resolve and do a re-realease or patch.
The Julius did not go into the jump node - it went to a different part of the same nebula to run away from the Shivans.
-
oh that makes some sense. but in-system jumps are instantaneous so there would be no subspace-tunnel mission then.
-
Sorry to bump this thread, but I still wanted to say:excellent campaign! I just played it through on insane, and I have to say that most missions were challenging and fun (except that subspace thingy though, which was like using cheats :D). Overally, superb work.
-
The first 2 links didnt work for me, and the mirror got me 7 mission files and a "Desperation.fc2" file. where do i put these to get the campaigne workin?
-
Simply put them in data/missions. Then when you start playing FS2, go to the campaign selection screen, and select it. If you're using an older build (pre-3.6.5 I think) it might say something about erasing all progress on your current campaign. If that happens, start a new pilot file to play it with.
-
Got it, thanks :D

realy? Is this confirmed or just a theory?
Anyways there seems to be a plot hole with the SOC nebula undercover thing, though i could be misinterpreting what is meant.
You fly the second SOC loop after escorting the aquitane out of the nebula.

Just finished it, pretty good I thought. I liked the connections to the main FS2 campaign, and the story itself is pretty interesting. I think it could have used some more chatter during the missions, and some of the missions were too easy on Medium, but overall pretty fun. Looking forward to the next chapter.

I try to run the campainge but when i go to start it the game crashes and says i dont have enough memory... WTF? any help?
