I want to do some spaceship modeling ans etc. If you guys could help. It would be a great deal of help. Thanks:)
-
Notepad. Real 3D modellers type in the individual vertices.
-
3D Studio MAX 6 - If you're not bothered about infringing international copyrights and breaking anti-piracy laws.
Lightwave - See MAX
Blender - If you're poor and/or desperate
-
What do you guys think about AutoCad and Lightwave 7.0? And thank you for the help.
-
If it's modelling you want, and don't care about texturing or high-end rendering that much, grab a copy of Rhino3D (http://www.rhino3d.com/). Nothing beats it for pure modeling.
-
Hang on, aren't you the same guy that posted the 'FS3' thread?
You have a strange habit of picking topics that people will disagree on :p
Edit : Come to think of it, you ask our opinion on anything we will probably disagree about it ;)
-
Most people seem to use 3dMax.

next topic: "US election thread; is religion to blame for the war on Iraq?"
:D

3dmax tends to scare modelling newbies into making models again. It's the most obstrusive program I have ever seen.
You should probably go for Rhino3d or Truespace(any version higher than 5.0, everthing below that sucks the sweat off a dead mans balls)
-
MAX is a piece of piss once you've figured out how to customize the interface (IE - add all the buttons you need to the toolbars) and memorized the Edit Mesh and Extrude Face button icons.

LOL You'd have to put a poll at the top for people to guess how many posts till lockage sets in ;)

I think "Blonde or Brunette" would be a bigger flame fest.
At least until some sicko posted a redhead and everyone ganged up on him.
-
Truespace (very easy..especially if you're making ships and similar stuff)
OR
3DMax (excellent for animate objects like people and animals. great rendering and animation abilities)

Girlfriend, thats marvelous!

I knew I seen those aliens from the season premier of Enterprise before!
-
your moddeling skills are useless if ya cant use photoshop :D
-
True enough - Photoshop for textures, Lightwave for modelling.
But 3DS Max is probably compatable with more external programs...
CGChat is a good place to hang out when you start trying to do this stuff:

Again, I must throw in a completely different suggestion compared to other people here :D
Cinema4D, pretty simple to use but still very powerfull.

I had less problems learning how to use it than I'm having with Max for certain.
