I used Wingnut's omega model and textures, but i did the light setup and the background [i should have ran 'add noise, 1% random' before adding the planet for a starfield, but i forgot and im not running the 24 hour render again]

Looks fine to me. Don't know what those red engine looking things were at the end that slowed the ship down, but it was nice and smooth. The starscape, though, looks - funny (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) Apart from the fact that it has no stars - next time put a sphere in the background and use Glitterato from Flaming Pear ("http://www.flamingpear.com") to make a starscape to map onto it. Well - It looks good, but the background and the engine glows could both use a little work, other than that - nice!

Divx is an encoding algorithm, somewhat like MP3, but for video instead of audio.

I'm having problems here. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) I tried it once in WMPLayer, didn't work. Duh. I didn't have DivX installed. I go to DivX.com and download their latest version of the codec(I'm pretty sure) and try again. WMPlayer open again, STILL won't work. What's up?

IIRC, you run the install program, then you run an item in DivX's program group named 'Run Me First!'. If you've done that, then I'm not sure what's going on. What version is it? I'm running 0.31 Alpha and it runs fine. I watched The Killer Bean 2: The Party ("http://www.thekillerbean.com") a couple of days ago (for maybe the tenth time (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)) and I think you should all check it out. 24mb download, well worth it. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Looks pretty cool. But did it take 24 hours to render!? That seems like a lot of time for a 40 sec movie. What program did you use? How many polys are in the scene?

Yeh. The Omega Wingnut did is meant to be for FS2, so it shouldn't be that high-poly should it? 24 hours is a while.

TrueSpace 4.2, i quad devided the model, engine glows on, glow casting lights volumetric, rendered on a 180mhz Pentium Pro, so i could use my main

No wonder I couldn't see the last time. I forgot to click on "Run Me First!". Stupid stupid.....

As soon as I get back to the school computer I installed it on(I'm lucky, I have full access for 2 hours to my own win2k server) I'll fix it. Think I'll install Truespace on that one too- take advantage of the school's T3 line. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I'm not sure if I downloaded the right DivX though. The fiile name was DivX4a48.exe. Came from a web site that is doing something called Project Mayo or something.

Yep, Project Mayo is right. I guess DivX has advanced a few stages. I should download the new codec.

Advanced until I cannot see the movie clip. I installed it but I don't see a DivX program group.

It doesn't work.
No program group is created. No FOLDER is even created on the system.
Apparently backwards-compatibility with new versions of WMPlayer wasn't in the cards... :|
