Found this oddly shaped cloud on the FS1 ending cutscene...

show us without the red line.
-
No, that's how it looks in-game.
-
OMG it's the face of teh devil!!!111:eek2:
:p
-
The in-game nebulae had similiar shapes. I am not surprised.
-
Pfft, that's nothing. Once I saw the baby-faced sun from Teletubbies when I was playing in OpenGL. Suddenly it makes sense, the Shivans were out to destroy the Teletubbies!
-
No, that must have been Descent III...
-
It was from Descent III I saw the same thing :p
-
:sigh:

All hail the Shivans, saviours of the universe!:D
-
It's a Plesiosaur! Ancient ancestor of the Aesir! ;)
-
Could be......
I've always had a thought about the colossus...and how it's destruction could have been easily faked in Gamma Draconis....but its a wild theory at best.......
One question: in which system was that cutscene based on?
-
First of all, that shot's from FS1, not FS2. As far as I know, it's supposed to be from Sol; it's shown while your character is speaking the final monologue about the Shivans. Second of all, the Colossus was destroyed in Capella, at the Vega node, not in Gamma Draconis; you jump directly from there to the Epsilon Pegasi node, where the Bastion is making its run. Finally, how in the world can the Colossus's death have been faked? You were there when the big S took it down; that's direct eyewitness evidence.

Er... he said it was from FS1. 'sides which, there wouldn't be much point in a subtle preminition in FS2 - the bloody thing's shown in the intro cutscene anyways.
Oh, and this is a bit tenuous a subject, do you not think? I bet if you looked really hard you could pick out any old pish from nebula patterns.

Not exactly. The theory has more to do of that Colossus being a fake; something Command created to act as a decoy. Furthur evidence can be found from mentioned from elsewhere if you're really paranoid and have a good eye. One of the most obvious was that the Colossus then was unable to move or even launch fighters - it clearly showed as Disabled in the screen.
I'd rather not say it not though, as tis a potential campaign plot :nervous:
-
They did it for the Insurance money! :p hehehehehe
-
ala Babylon 4?

It is not Sol. It is a different system. The cutscene changes. It first shows Sol and the surviving Vasudan and Terran fighters (and Earth), then fades out, fades back in in some system of the ancients with the narrator speaking again. It is clearly a different system, for numerous suns and background nebulae are to be seen, whereas Sol obviously only has one sun and only a slight hint of blue nebula in the back.

Altair.

With visuals similar enough that it will be obvious this narration is of a similar nature to the previous five.
Teh player was trapped in Sol

Read. My post. :)

that shape you outlined is so basic that i'm sure it appears all the time in nebula. maybe if it were more detailed and accurate vs. the collosus you might have something, but it's such a blob that it must be coinsidence.
-
Especially since the blob actually has another shape than the red line indicates. Look at the lower edge - the nebula extends well over the red line.
-
Here it is without the red line:

You know I can just see it. Oh and a Mentu, a Sobek too and look the entire Spanish Armada. ( I can actually make out the GTVA Oversized-target-and-FREDer-problem causer)
-
I actually do see a hatshepsut...
-
Atualy i can see an aten in the rightmost cloud in that pic, prongs pointing down, about the size of the colossus
And the bottom bit of the middle cloud looks like the fornt of a seth, or sobek for that matter
-
Look! I can see my voice!
