hehe, check this out:

Liver pills turn black man white
A black man who was given tablets for liver disease has won £15,000 after they turned him white.
The skin of Tekeste Kahsay, 59, has turned white, except for a patch of skin across his face.
Mr Kahsay, originally from Eritrea but now living in Sweden, says he feels like a black man trapped in a white man's body.
Mr Kahsay was badly injured as he worked at a sawmill in Lidkoping. Blood tests revealed the first stages of liver disease which could have proved fatal.
He was prescribed a drug which saved his liver but had astonishing side effects. His skin became increasingly light until he was white except for a dark "mask" on his face and ears. He has been shunned and attacked because of his strange appearance.
He said: ''This is terrible. I disappeared. I was a black man inside and a white man outside. My self-confidence is gone."
Mr Kahsay won £15,000 from a medical tribunal, The Mirror reports.
The doctor who treated him is reported to be off work with severe psychological problems. In Mr Kahsay's homeland, he is shunned as a leper, as white pigment is considered a sign of the disease.
He added: ''I am a black man and will always be a black man but I don't know who I am. But I have learned a lot about intolerance towards people of another colour.''
these damn tabloids... i don't know whether to believe it or not, but i'm leaning on the believing side.
-
I've seen cases of a melanin related disorder having exactly this effect so it's almost certainly true.
It's rather shocking when you realise exactly how little difference there actually is between the two races.
-
What the hell....
-
In Mr Kahsay's homeland, he is shunned as a leper, as white pigment is considered a sign of the disease.
They say that like it's something bad.
I remind everyone that he DID have a disease and the white pigment WAS a sign of it. So they're right in shunning him.
-
For anyone interested the disorder I mentioned earlier is called vitiligo. This is the first time I've heard that a drug can trigger it though.
An0n. It's a disorder not a disease. Completely non-infectious.
-
And?

What a mindblowing newsflash. Wow - blacks are human, too?? {/sarcasm}
-
anon : You're wrong. Deal with it.

Nope. I actually meant in terms of looks. Change one single chemical and a black person looks identical to a white person.
-
A chronic disease is still a disease.
And the white pigment is still evidence of flaws in his physiology, biology and/or genetics.
-

it was only a mater of time till it was posted.

Nope. All it shows is that if he takes a certain drug melanin production ceases. There were no other side effects. There's absolutely nothing else wrong with him.
-
you know this guy would make a kickass super villan.
-
I think, or at least I hope, An0n is trying to see this from the point of view of those in his home country, with their assumptions and fears.

He didn't / doesn't have leprosy, and they're shunning him as a leper.
Twat.

you mean your home country?
honestly do people realy have that short of a memory of things An0n posts?
-
Just about everyones home country.
I guess the Sunny Disposition is done with for now then An0n ;)
-
'As a leper' only means in equal degree and similar fashion.
And regardless of how minor or stupid or subject to circumstance his defect is, it's still a goddamn defect. You can PC it all you want, there's still something wrong with him, something abnormal, something that shouldn't be there. Thus, they're right.

I'm not swearing or calling people ****s, so it's still there to a degree.
-
From the point of view of those who shun him, they are right..........
Personally, I think it's disgusting that people should treat him like that, but the world is, alas, filled to overflowing with prejudice against anything that is not 'normal'. As An0n points out, it's human behaviour.

No, 'like a leper' means that.
Oh, and are you overwieght? Slightly underweight? A bit taller than average? Shorter? short or long sighted? Have a minor scar internally or externally? Above / below average IQ? Or just generally got that bizarre 'I'm a bit of a dick and proud of it' personality?
Well if your are, then your about as well qualified to be shunned as this guy is.
-
We all have something 'abnormal' about us. I won't mention diversity of species etc here, we've got another thread for that ;)
It's just that this is obvious, whereas we all keep our little abnormalities locked up where no-one can see them ;)
-
Anon has been a cock as much as I have been annoying. You learn to live with it.
The guy simply has different skin colors on his face. I dont think we should hate him for it, I think we should give him our sympathy.
-
I think, what he wants more than anything else is not for it to be shunned or sympathised with, but simply to be ignored so he can get on with being who he is.
Though, I must admit, him talking about being white as though it were a curse is a bit disconcerting, but then, I haven't had to go through the abuse he has.

Yeah. I hate the way that as soon it becomes outwardly visible, it becomes worse than any mental thing; I'm sick of that faceticious bull**** that demands people are respected based on how their appearance conforms to the 'average' person.

Nope. An0n. Still wrong. They treated him as a leper because they thought that the white patches that appeared on his face were a sign of leprosy.
And if you're claiming that a defect that minor is a cause to shun someone we should shun everybody as every single human in the world carries one or two fatal recessive genes and probably a whole bunch more dominant ones that cause adverse reactions to situations that don't turn up very often.
-
I think we shouldn't care at all.
[edit]about his skin color.
thread posting = very fast
-
You're right, we shouldn't.
Unfortunately, we're all human, so we do; best thing is to recognise that and work with it.
-
Too bad An0n would rather ***** about it than recognize that, well, he was wrong.
-
Do you guys want to get back on topic? Or is this going to go on?
-
Technically skin colour and illnesses are on topic...
-
The whole conversation about an0n. The arguement.

....says the man from the society of tollerance.
Did it ever even occur to you that they might know full well what it is and why it happened, and just happen to still think he doesn't deserve to be around?
It's the same as not wanting a 4 legged horse-man around hittin on your daughter.
You can ***** and moan about it all you want, the man is still defective - in the same way that people who are allergic to water are defective - and these people just plain don't like it.
-

are we sure this isn't jsut Eminem's latest publicity stunt?
...seriously, this is just wierd.

Says the man who is smart enough to know the symptoms of leprosy and realise that is what he was refering to. He wasn't being metaphorical about this. He was saying that people wouldn't shake his hand for fear of getting leprosy (A common occurance for people who have vitiligo).

Did it ever occur to you to have checked what the symptoms were? Seriously read up on the disease and you'll find that word (and just that word) is used a lot. The condition is actually similar in appearance to leprosy. That's why he used that word.

But he's not defective. He had an adverse reaction to a drug. All drugs have side effects. All of them. Sometimes the effect is visible as is the case here. It's a certainty that some drugs would have an adverse effect on you if you had to take them.
Should we shun you too? (Please say yes).
-
Two things:
1) He was defective both for the reaction to the drug and the FATAL LIVER CONDITION!
2) The article, being in the Mirror, was most likely written by a fat, balding, middle-aged, white journalist and it was quite probably relayed to him through Kahsay's bias and a translators imprecision. So basically, the person who wrote the article probably didn't have a ****ing clue what was going on and just summised the reasons for the reactions of the townfolk.

So now a fatal liver condition is a reason to shun someone? So in other words we should shun everybody who has a terminal condition of any sort then? Or do you just take exception to disorders of the liver?

Did you not read what I said? People who have vitiligo commonly report being thought of as lepers due to the similarity of the symptoms. Almost certainly the translation was correct.

well you can't really blame him, i mean put yourself in his place... you've been white your whole life, and suddenly you're black (or vice-versa)... i'd be pretty pissed too :p

Translations are never correct. At best they're educated guesswork.
And I could give a flying mother**** about the reports of a bunch of defects.
Put simply: It's the ****ing Mirror. I'd put my goddamn life on him having scalped that "because of the similar symptoms" **** from the same 3rd grade biology textbook that you did, and arbitrarily assigned it as the reason for him being an outcast.
Put even simplyer: Go **** yourself!. I'm through pandering to the utopianesque, denial-driven fallacies of the mental handicapped.

Social Darwinism was widely discredited in the late 19th century. Feel free to continue their cause though an0n. It amuses me.

Where as you have invented another explaination simply cause you simply couldn't admit you're wrong. This amuses me too.

Yay. I knew I could get the monkeyboy to lose his cool with the constant prodding. Congratulations on dancing to my tune for the last 5 posts or so an0n. Feel free to continue the insults as they amuse me too. In fact I'm almost pissing myself with laughter at how easily I was able to manipulate you into losing your cool.

Please, like I give a **** what some guy sat in a bedsit in his dressing gown, jacking off to gay porn and Spice Girls videos thinks.
So that covers most of the forumites. So I ain't gonna explain myself and once again: Go **** yourself!

Does this abuse all come from the first quarter I gave the organ grinder or do I keep having to pay him?

Broadband NTL, eh?
So that would be one of those 'always on' connections?

Oh my God...you didn't....look at his profile?

Yes, because I have admin powers at HLP now.
-
No you don't.
-
I'm bored with this game.
-
 I'm so scared.
Anyway I enjoy being at HLP so I'm going to quit taunting an0n cause I don't particularly fancy a ban. Feel free to keep foaming at the mouth. I don't need to post any further on the subject for the inertia to keep you making amusing comments.

I wish I could be there to see you get cancer.
Karajorma wins. Period. Can we get a lock?
-
Like I care.
General Note: Two deaths and three organ removals in my family due to cancer.
-
an0n you're being an ass
-
And Striker is being such a mature individual......
-
No need for a lock. I've quit prodding an0n for now.
We can get back on topic as far as I'm concerned. If there's anything left to say that is.
-
I doubt it. Once an0n get's on his cock-marathon, he hardly gets off.

Likewise.

True. At least I admit it.

I think it's impossible for us to get back on topic. We all have our opinions on who won; An0n believes hes mature and right, while everyone else uses obscure things such as 'ethics' and 'morals' and agrees with Karajorma. Let's lock it down. I think we should try again on another subject.

Back on topic:
I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if all of his skin had turned white, but that patch across his face has got to make him upset.

That has to be the worst of it. He can't pass for either race at even a casual glance. Where ever he goes he's going to get stared at even by people like us who know better.
