Pictures here are small orginal resolution is from 1024x1024 to 800x800.
How they looks? Do they need something?
-

-
Duuuude... i really gotta work on my planets....

seconded!

Wow. You've wayyyy surpassed all my attempts.
We need a tutorial right now! :D
EDIT: After a closer look, I'd say the clouds on the first one are a bit too white and flat. Can't find anything else wrong with any of them. I especially like the last one, it looks really nice
-
It's simple seven steps:
1. Take some good photos of planet surface or good texsture
2. EDIT them ( add new lands etc. )
3. Get some clouds ( sometime just edit those on planet surface )
4. Sphereise both here*, if sphereise on photosop is't good I just make one sphere in Truespace and texsture it.
5. Edit clouds and planet that they match together
6.* or here:D
7. Add shadow and atmosphere
and you've got niece looking planet:)
and two more:

Ok, now expand on the "EDIT" part. ;)
-
expand on the "EDIT" part
you need to use brush, eraser, few oters tools for editng layers..its hard to say: different planets, different needs:D
-
My favourites are #2 and #4. Beautifully subtle. :)

Har, har. Basically, "just do it", huh? :p
-
I empathise with him. Sometimes it's just difficult to articulate how to do something - not everything can be tutorialled. Like hey Styxx, how did you design such a beautiful ship as the Dignity? ;)
-
Some of them are really nice
-
Brilliant stuff! :yes::yes:
-
Duuuuuuuuuuude...
-
Are they for use ingame? They are simply Gorgeous...
-
those small nope bigger ones yes if I lite work with shadows.
But fitrs here must be 10 planets.
....heh i 've found a bug on number 7:D
-
Not just good, Crazy Good!

Those are some serious planets, dude! Total thumbs up! I like the greenish one in particular.
And the link Krackers87 posted is great, very helpfull. I might just try it myself.
Hey c914, how about making the shivan homeplanet? I´m gonna need a nice dark and "evil" aura planet for my project. Care to give it a try? I will need the Ancients planet aswell, allthough i have no idea what kind of planet that would be... That green planet might do just right. I´ll need Vasuda Prime and Earth aswell, but those can wait.
Good work, dude! I love them.

says the dude with the city sized tank :D

Wow, they are top quality stuff.
I think you've made someone in Volition blush! :)
Can't wait to see these ingame.
-
how about making the shivan homeplane
:wtf: ..but they don't live on planets. Shivas are space life form and if they use some soild ground is are asteroids or they own ships:nod:
If you need realy this planet i could do some dark, red and evil world;7
-
you should do some dark evil planets anyways, as we can never have enough of them :p
Actually, something that'd be kinda cool would be a glowy-red lava planet type thing (with lava rivers, most of it dark cooled lava tho...), but with a few lights some places where some mining or extracting cities were...

Made in about 10-15 mins with the tutorial i posted on the first page. Still needs some touching up however.

After a moderate amount of tweaking.
-
Eh, how curious! Yesterday I followed the tut aswell, and came back exactlly like yours!! :D

Very nice work c914  Planet 2 looks especially good.
A planet tutorial worth  looking at: http://www.deviantart.com/view/3131869/ (http://www.deviantart.com/view/3131869/)

-
:ick:
-
Supernova remnant, if you made the star white, anways.
-
The planets are amazing but the nebula can use a little tweaking.
-
Anyone knows of a Photoshop plugin for planet making? I know there must be some around...

LunarCell is one... but you're much better off making the planets by hand. Here's a couple of links to some good PS planet tutorials:
http://www.skyetis.com/Tutorial/tut.html
http://www.deviantart.com/view/11885274/
And of course, the tutorial by master himself:

Really nice planets. Is possible to see them released un a big assorted pack?
-
I was thinking about it:nod:
-
*ignore this post*
-
arg its not showing up, let me try attaching it
-
^^
A vulcanic planet I have always wanted!
-
Here is Earth tye planet.
Original picture is 1800x1800
-
Very nice!
Altough I think the landmasses are a bit too, hmmm, bumpy and prononced? Could you wash them out a bit and let the clouds cover them more. Also, what are the b&w parts on the dark side?
-
The problem with the planet above is not the quality, it's the esthetics: The large island seems as if it were completely flat and covered with desert.
-
Lt.Cannonfodder: it isn't problem i just add to much embos.
Those light parts should be a citys in night ..in huge picture part it looks better.
TopAce:.hmm in bigger picture it doesn't look soo flat
and anoteher one:)

How much time does it take for you to draw a planet? How many hours?
-
Last one i've made in les than 30 minutes:D
Eart type ive create in 2-3 hours.
Basicly if you had an idea how shoud it look like work goes faster:nod:
-
volcanic/protoplanet #2
(http://www.penguinbomb.com/phreak/planet4.jpg)
-
You add to much embos, specialy on edges.
-
Looks good so far, I say it still needs some more work to make the best out of it.
