and look like this:

Model still need more details..working on it.
Comments? Sugestions?
-
looks like a cross between battle star galactica and a flying brick
-
It lokks like to a big Battleship, or something like Juggernaught. It's very big for a Carrier, too biiig but excellent for FUN !!!
I can't imagine the result when 20 squadron fighter are taking off .....
-
I don't like it.
-
Looks good but it's rather seriously overtiled at the moment.
-
ugh.... tiling will not suit that beast
good nonetheless :)
-
I'd be inclined to make that a full length, fly through hangar like the Galactica.
-
Make the connection between the two bulkheads bigger or simply make it seem more massive.
It is a brick - either greebfy it with more little bricks or put some slated surfaces onto it - some super/sub-structure wouldn't hurt either.
Nice start BTW.
-
It looks gigantic, I'll give you that.
Add a raised bridge (like a star destroyer) on the back, sling back the pontoon (or maybe even forward), and narrow the front a bit, and it'll look good :)
-
looks like a cross between Battlestar Galactica and Wing Commander, only grayer....
-
i remember a ship from somewhere, where the hanger section was extended like that, wonder from where lol...
-
I don't like the additional section. It just looks too massive to bother having an addition IMHO.
Get rid of it and it's connector entirely and concentrate on the main ship...
Oh yeah forgot to mention. The rear engines look like hangar openings, change that please!
-
It's paint job and design make it look like an EA (from INF, not Babylon 5 :p) ship.
EDIT: Btw, what are it's dimensions?
-
Being a brick is not necessarily a bad thing. The Orion's pretty bricklike too. Creates a feeling of power, in a way. "I'm tough as all heck. ph33r me."
The darker grey texture, however, must change.
And are those hanger doors I spy? Do they actually close?
-
what do yo uthink? :doubt:
-
Looks too much like an installation. Maybe you can convert it to be that instead :) .
-
Textures suck. Model's pretty nice.
Some of the areas seem a bit plain and underdetailed.
Oh, can we see a size comparison?

I agree. Make it kind of an orbital platform that launches fighters. I am put in mind of a piece of the briefing from the Inferno mission when you engage their fleet in Earth Lagrange point. It mentions that fighters and bombers will be jumping in from staging points all through the area. I was thinking that they were being launched from orbital platforms and mini-instellations designed ONLY as fighterbases.
Later!
-
The thing that I don't like about it is that the fighter section is too small in relation to the main section. With a main section that large, it seems like a conventional FS destroyer with an oversized fighterbay. Not that there's anything wrong with that, since fighter combat is the core of Freespace warfare. IMO, a carrier should be more fighterbay (and facilities based around supplying, repairing, and storing the fighters) than anything else.
On the other hand, it would make a great destroyer or superdestroyer.
-
Doesn't look particularly Freespacey IMO - somewhat Wing Commanderesque perhaps.
-
I think it could be freespacey with better textures. I think it has potential.
-
It IS Freespacey, only in EA fashion instead mainstream GTVA so that's fine in my book.
-
Make it kind of an orbital platform that launches fighters.
that is realy intersting idea...hmmm but first go first..model need definitly new texsture ( working on them ) and those :V: looks ugly on it.
-
Too blocky, enough of a clear-cut shape IMO.
-
I like it. It's not Freespacey though.
-
Really looks like a carrier to me, If it is as big as it looks, thats good, it could carry cruisers too.:)
-
I love it.
-
I can't help, but this picture comes to my mind :
:p
-
Looks awesome, but i think the section on the left needs a few fighterbays as well, unless its a GIANT hangar type thing.
whats the polycount and dimensions?
-

The Icaunus (I think); the big jugg from Inferno.
-
HUGE!
-
I think deep_eyes was referring to the Ravana.
-
I think he was referring to me.
-
here is size comprechetion with Orion and soem new texsture ( texsture work ist yet finished )
Polycount 1200 polys ( abot 3000 using triaingulate ) on main model without turrets.
-
That count could go up to about 8000-10000 for a capship of this magnitude. Not that using less polys is a bad thing, but you still have a lot of room for adding detail and refinements.
It's coming together fine. Looks promising.
-
Putting it next to the Orion only serves to show how little variety there is in the texture. Deimos black and gray might work, or even maybe Orion or Fenris. Or, dare I say it, CUSTOM.
-
I'd suggest that if you are planning on following on to my fighterbase idea, that you increase the size and height of that superstructure (tower) on the larger of the 2 segments, so it resembles the tower on a modern day aircraft carrier or something.
-
With lite more polys ( about 1600 ):

how it look now?
-
Definite improovement
-
 :D  Definitely better. I really like it, even if it does seem really wierd. Its no longer 2 bricks. Now its two pretty, smooth, bumby bricks that look really nice. Good work. Cant wait for the texture job.
-
holy... dude, that is beautiful!!!
-
If you look at the before pics much of that detail was there before but was hidden under that dreadful texturing.
Looks good. You'll need good textures though or else it will look like a brick.
-
Yes, looks great now. That texturing was making it look very ugly.
blocky = terran = good
-
the bit connecting the two parts needs to be a lot bigger.
-
i dont think so, but the almighty bobboau knows best ;)
-
much of that detail was there before but was hidden under that dreadful texturing
Thats right. Sometimes textures eat ship details and model look like one big box.
the bit connecting the two parts needs to be a lot bigger
it is big trust me:nod:
-
I think the Orion textures could really work there, believe it or not.
-
I like this a lot, I really do. It's going to need custom texes though, or it'll look like a breezeblock. Either that, or you'll have to pick out all the details with separate textures so they show up...
-
Pretty damn incredible, once again :D
-
I think the Orion textures could really work there
With Orion textures ship look wors tan with first grey ones ( i've test it ).
Model need costume texsture. One you have saw here (http://c914.w.interia.pl/ob/GTCa06.JPG). ( one with repace greyble form first screens )
I've litle edit it and now looks this:
-
how well does that tile?
-
What does the Inferno team think about this? IMHO (and I know a few of you guys share it) this would work well with the EA textures and their blockiness. I wonder if they'd be willing to give you their standard textures. I'd be really interested in seeing how it turns out.
-
i think everything in inferno is open for use, so long as proper credit is given.
-
but AFAIK they havent released the most updated textures for SCP. But I really think this would look great in Inferno with the right textures and maybe some tweaking to get an EA look. And even if it doesnt go to Inf, it still is a beautiful ship.
-
So does that mean I could put the Gigas in my campaign?
-
You could if you first ask Inferno team:D
About inferno EA texstures i try to use them mayby they match:doubt:
-
On that texture posted earlier: it looks great, but not as a seamless tile. You've got a very defined square, and that's going to stand out like a sore thumb no matter what you do. To make it work well as a seamless texture, you need to spread details out across the edges of the tile.
-
Hmm, we might be interested in this as an EA supercarrier equivalent to the Warlock. Since it shares some design similarities with the Icanus, with a remap it'd fit in quite well I think.
-
The texstures are ready..i've create two version's with Inferno EA texstures if someone send me a direct link to EA Pack..i can't downolad it by using GameSpy:mad:
-
I can e-mail it to you if you want, just PM/post your adress.
-
Tt won't neccesery one of inferno team do it:D
-
It's there dude. Remember that FilePlanet is unreliable and that you occasionally need to refresh for it to find the file in its database.
http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/3dactionplanet/hlp/hosted/inferno/inf_ea.exe
-
fileplanet never finds what i want it to find. its REALLY annoying...
yes, that looks VERY EA-ey...
-
Finly here it is with new texstures:
and with EA ( becouse EA hasn't got second hull texsture i had to add my own )
-
Looks much better with the first textures. The EA texes sometimes look like homogenic sauce with S.T.A.R.S on it.
-
Both texture are great but i prefer some camo texture.
-
Simply great.
Volition textures=suck
-
better texture selection, but still over tiled.:sigh:
-
Better.
-
i like the EA textures better, but it's great either way. Now RELEASE!
-
Now RELEASE
Now is time to add subobjects, texsture lods:p
