ok, im in the dark, living in a hole. i still only have the inf build and the 3.6 release of FSO.
what is the 'latest' (ie, most advanced) build and what effects are in it, and what do i need to have it work?
i saw something dead sexy about long curving thruster trails...
also, can someone EXPLPLAIN what the effects do? im still not sure what 'specular' is...

Well for the latest build just go into the lateest build forum. The builds themselves do not have effects however. For effects you need to download seperate media, such as the media vp's and shine 1.5 as well as alot of other not so famous ones.
As for explaining, well.
Specular is basicly shininess, you need t on to see shinemaps, does anyone have a before/after specular picture? anyways, it looks great, you want it on.

For before/after screens you can also take ATI/nVidia screens, it's practically the same. :rolleyes:

hm... allow me to clarify: i meant 'whats the latest build and *what effects does it support*?' sorry, didnt word that too well..
as far as i can tells, there seems to be enviroment mapping, some new shiney maps, some new thruster trails, and lense flares, and i dont know wehre to get any of the effects nor where to get the builds for them. ill look at that site.
