Im stuck on what I need to add to it. :( But I just can't put my finger on it.

update...

Turrets? It looks good, IMO.
-
Its a good model concept. Looks too lego-ish though. You might want to smooth out those edges somehow. Other than that its pretty good. What is it supposed to be by the way, a corvette or destroyer?
-
I haven't smoothed it out yet, b/c I'm trying to see the angles. Destroyer or Corvette I haven't decided.
-
Pillar of Autumn clone? THe front end isnt freespacey. Would make a nice Iceni-sized Frigate in my opinion.
-
I think Sobek size would be perfect, perhaps a bit bigger.
The design is great. Add some details to the front. Perhaps a bit Omega-like (B5), but not too much.
It looks a bit boring from the top. The sides need ...'something'. Dunno, you're the modder. ;)
-
One real comment only. If those are cap ship turrets they will be fixed unless they are moved to top bottom planes. If they are to be side mounted I suggest makeing them smaller or at least spreading them out more (in both cases) as anti-figter fixed turrets or cap ship broadside secondary guns... I think they look way too awkward as they are (though the individual barrel shapes ARE nice!!!
Looks promising, lets see where it goes from here...

I'm guessing... a trigger? :D Seriously though, I'm seeing something more along the lines of a transport or possibly a science cruiser than a corvette or destroyer. The whole layout is very reminiscent of the Argo, though those horizontal fins on the sides could be part of a sensor array, which leads me to the science ship idea.
-
Trivial has a good point. Remove the arrays, add a beefy little "chin" to the very front, and put it soemwhere between fenris-deimos size.
-
oh the things on the front aren't guns, the were where I was going to put docking bays or some antenna or something, but I wasn't for sure.
-
nice model, i like.
-
There I cut off the front...but I'm still not sure on how to make the front look.

Recess the front of the nose a wee bit, IMO. Everything else looks very nice.
-
See if you can find any models/pics by Raven2001 - this looks similar to his stuff in some ways.
-
new pirmary weapon model:wtf:
-
The little wing thingys in the back are a little too thin/out there. Make the front a little wider, too. THe shots from the top in the first post show that the front is about 1/3 wide as the back. Make it at least 1/2 or even 2/3, and how bout that chin?

That's what I thought, too.
Add a bunch of little details to the front; I thought you had a decent start with the bit you cut off, albeit I'd have dropped the recess myself.
What I reckon you want to do is to add a decent amount of surface detail; extruded or recessed shapes in the front, which will stop it looking like an artifically flat-stroke-plain set of faces but still allow you to keep that nice blunt appearance. And add some more minor detailing to the sides, etc.... you should have enough of a poly-budget to add in some basic 'hull plating' details to keep the surface a bit broken up. (long flat polygons emphasise the model is, well, just a model IMO; you can either curve the model, which isn't suitable here, or add some minor detailing or greebling work to it)

Makes me say Freighter.
-
Thanks for the advice. I have it saved in about 50 different stages right now, but I think the main problem is that I've been looking at the darn thing too long. I'm going to let it sit for a few days and then look at it again with a fresh mind. That and it will give me some time to work on something else that I have been messing with.
-
Nice. Not a warship - at least conventional, could turn up being a good "something new" - but suitable for freighter/transport or utility vehicle. I really liked the nose, even though it was a bit gunlike.
-
How about some armor plates and antenas.
(uhm I know my drawing looks crappy. ;) )

Hope you can guess what I mean.

Hence, my "trigger" remark.

You have pilots prying open the canopy to shoot at people? Man, you're harsh...
[j/k]
-
Maybe its a primary from the early days like during the Unification War of the TVWP campaign. From the days when destroying an enemy fighter meant cranking open your cockpit and shooting with a plasma riffle while you maneuver the flight stick between your knees. :D
-
revert to the original (well, the first update, really) and then shrink that first... i dunno, 'segment'? on the front upwards a bit, and add dabrains details. then, lose the arrays and also shrink down alot of that other stuff so it doesnt stick out so far
then, give to hippo for the possible halo->FS2 MOD ;)
-
Yeah that really is a nice ship to use for Halo. Looks very PoA-ish
-
its called 'consistancy' ;) tis very useful to make a group of ships look similar :)
[/idiotic]
-
Yeah, thats kinda the idea [/response to idiocracy]
-
Actually, with a few touch ups it could be a very nice experimental craft. And those don't really have to fit current design lines. Like the Pegasus fighter looks nothing like regular fighters... at all.
-
well, it still looks 'freespacey', if only barely.
-
IMHO it's definitively a transport, with the exception of the nose.
It should be of the size of a fenris, maybe smaller. This is because of the two big engine pods, which give the sense of scale of a size between a corvette and a bomber.
You may subdivide the main hull in 3 parts, corresponding to each of the 3 elements on the top , like a bulk freighter.
