Just curious. Where do you think the various sections of the ship (barracks, engineering, bridge and such) are located onboard an Orion-class destroyer?
Aside from the obvious flightdeck, there are other places shown in FS1,such as the bar (from a dropped cutscene :( ) and the briefing room. Of course it's just pure speculation, but where do you think these are located? And what sort of crew quarters are there? Just simple bunks for the pilots and crew and maybe little bit more luxurious quarters for the high-ranking officers, like the captain. Your thoughts, please :D

Inside.
-
Very funny :p
-
I dunno... look at the subsystem placements on the model.
-
Orion interiors look very functional, so I'm going to guess that they're a bit short on creature comforts. Rather like, say, a modern submarine.
Since the basic pilot ranking is ensign, I imagine the pilots have slightly nicer bunks then the crew. Four people to a room instead of six or nine. Only the very highest-ranking officers have their own staterooms. Everybody short of the executive officer probably has to share a room, though the number of people varies.

And the bar...

As for where they are, probably somewhere around the center of the ship.

Where'd you get those from?
-
FS Ref Bible.
-
Buh?
-
Those pictures can be found at http://www.descent-freespace.com/goodies/gallery/
-
Those are from cutscenes for FS1 that didn't make it to the final game.
-
I want ALL the FS1 Cutscenes :eek2:
They put the FS2 versions to utter, absolute shame.
-
Let me re-word that, those are images from planned cutscenes for the FS1 game which were never completed and thus never put in the game. The cutscenes themselves are not finished we have only a few images from featured background within those cutscences. If you get the Reference bible you can read the text on what was going to be within those cutscenes.

Except for the clip where a piolot with a gun runs by which can be found on the Silent Threat CD.
-
For more reference the Arcadia in FS1's opening (i forget the name ::P:) and maybe even Bosch's room may be helpful.
-
I think the second one IS the Arcadia.

That answer your question? :)
Specifically, it's in the secret/supersecret directory.

.
Noticed something....
.... the 1st one is from an unknown location (albeit the signs & floor layout do seem to match those of the control room) & the 2nd one is from the Arcadia control room (at Ross 128).
The only actual shot of an Orion interior I can think of - besides the mainhall ones - comes from the briefing cutscene.
-
Oops... never noticed this; in the very first ref bible reference to the bar;
Next shot shows outside of bar’s doors. The etched glass bears the name “ITA Repulse Officer’s Club”
ITA? Possibly just something changed during development (Independent Terran Alliance to Galactic Terran Allience?); if so, would this be the same Repulse from Freespace 2?

Heh, yeah I know. Maybe ITA stands for Interstellar Terran Alliance
-
Or maybe Imperial. I'd wager it being either Interstallar or Imperial. In either case the switch to Galactic isn't much of a stretch.
We know that the Galatea was originally going to be called the Repulse, because there's a portion of Admiral Shima's monologue elsewhere in the FSRef bible with Repulse in it.
So it's definitely an Orion then.
-
The Galatea was going to be called the Repulse but they changed it, in the FS Ref. Bible it says in the Command briefing instead of Galatea, Repulse, they obviously decided to reuse the name for FS2.
