Title: New Campaign: Pathways Discussion And Member Sign-Ups Here
Post by: Cobra on November 30, 2004, 11:55:51 pm
I'm writing out my plot, and I'm recruiting members. List of members:

Grimloq: Animator

What I need is about 3 of everything else except FREDers, when I'm done writing the mission plot.

Voice Actors
At least 3 Mappers
2 Modellers. (2 cruisers, one to each cruiser)
And testers.

I'll get back to you on FREDing, but you can tell me now if you want to FRED.

Well, you're persistent, I'll give you that...

Whether it's committed persistence or defiant persistence remains to be seen.

Eh, so I am. It's actually both types of persistencies. ;)

Oh, here's one more thing I need filled: A VP maker. It's a campaign with a lotta files, so I'll nead a VP.

Here's a few job offers: I need a weapons creator. There will be about 3 new weapons. I need some mappers that can create separate .tbl entries and maps to create raider-style fighters. I also need someon who can make the asteroid base without the NTF Iceni inside. AND without it breaking up when it take damage. Modellers, report to this thread for sign ups. If you're interested, tell me about your skills and I'll determine who I'll need. :)

Yeah, I'll be doing some of it, I just haven't determine what, except actually constructing the campaign. Which I'll need help on, since the campaign will branch off in 2 directions. I'll also be voice acting, I'm just saving up for a decent mike, though I saw a great headset at Wal-Mart for $30. Goober, wanna join? (I think I asked you, but I can't remember). Oh, And I'm one of the testers. :p

The reason I'm asking a lot is because I don't have decent mapping tools, I'm still working on my modelling skills, and I can't figure out how to make a vp, so I need people to do it.

I need something like an attack cruiser for the pirates (it needs a raider look), and I'm not sure about the GTVA cruiser, but maybe something like an upgrade of both the Fenris and the Leviathan combined, only a different model..

Annorax, what voice do you wanna do? There's a pilot, a pirate, a destroyer's guy who does all the talking, a Jade Falcon corvette person.

I dunno about the pirate ship, but for the other cruiser, I have just what you're looking for...

A lot of what you're using sounds similar to what HFH has (tho a bit more ambitious). Check your PMs.

BattleTech, fool, BattleTech!

*hit by BFRed*

Ehh...sorry. Fanboy mode took over for a moment there.

Although, you know, a BattleSpace or AeroTech 2 mod for FS2 would be pretty cool.

I think he means something like this (http://www.fattonys.com/images/Upload/Peleus.JPG) and this (http://www.fattonys.com/images/Upload/Peleus2.JPG).

Model and skin by Fulgrymm. It could use a bit better texturing in the midsection, but it runs fine.

Lemme know if you want it.

i'm in the FRED academy, but...i think i'mk good enough to participate in a campaign.
I sign up...my skills:
Medium freding...just needing a little practice....(remember that it's been a year since i left the FS community)
some table-moding.....
and.....................nothing more...
i might do some voice acting (remember that i'm not a native english-speaker)...hmmm...some mexican-like pirates might be good in your campaign...or not...

dont worry, even if you dont have any skills, you have a chance of getting on a team, even if its just for moral support ( :nervous: ) it really only matters if they want you. :)

Yeah, well, it's cheaper and much more plentiful than the Aeolus, post-Capella.

After all, there are only maybe a dozen Aeoluses left, and that's only if -- IF -- the NTF was making a few of their own. (I put the number at five from canon FS2, not counting the NTC Alexandria.)

Of course, the Peleus class isn't quite as effective as the Aeolus (less flak, half the anticap power, less speed, and a bigger target) but four AAA beams with good visibility are nothing to scoff at.

Especially on a cruiser that, unlike the Leviathan, moves faster than a snail stuck to flypaper. :p

Indeed I do. I've collected a number of em. (rummage rummage)

But, I take it you're not interested in the Peleus?

(As for the other discussion: "Mechwarrior" is used a lot more in reference to the popular series of combat-sim computer games, than to the BT-RPG. So there. :p)

Speaking of BattleTech, there's 2 versions I know of: BattleTech, the board game. BattleTech, the Sega Genesis game. And I have every game except for MW1 and the expansion packs for MW2. They're hard to find these days.

Hard to find? Search Ebay for ghost bear's legacy and you''ll get abotu a dozen listings. And then go to the Underdog's site and download MW1 for free. (or maybe it's part of a package, not sure). You can also get the two cresent hawks games there.

warhammer is just the Geek's way of saying 'i have too much money'.

battletech is too, only less-so.

mechwarrio: dark age is cheap, and the best gameplay i have seen in a miniatures game (check out mwrealms.com for lots of stuff on it! :) )

Buddy are you clueless? "Warhammer" is the name of a 70 ton battlemech based upon art from the RDF Destroid Excalibur from obotech, he's not referring to either Warhammer or Warhammer 40K put out by Games Workshop.

If you don't know the Warhammer, I wonder how much of a battletech fan you really are :)

Having not played mechwarrior 3, I'm guessing that you're referring to the Clan Omni mechs such as the Timberwolf, Mad Dog, Stormcrow etcetera which have all been given names by the "enemy" of the clans such as Mad Cat, Vulture and Ryoken. (Though personally I've always preferred to the Clan names, as the inner sphere designations are both redundant and sound crappy)

You haven't played MW3? *Howls like a Shivan and goes for the kill* But yeah, I like Clan names better, too. Dire Wolf=Daishi, Summoner=Thor, TimberWolf=Vulture, Mad Dog=Vulture WarHammer=Cauldron Born, Jenner=Owens (or rather, an upgrade version to the Jenner), and in MechCommander 2, RifleMan=JagerMech, and so on and so forth. BTW, you still haven't given me the link to HOTU.

Home of the Underdogs:
http://www.the-underdogs.org/ (http://www.the-underdogs.org/)

Btw, you're right on some counts there, but not on others. The Cauldron Born, Owens and Jagermech are NOT different names for the same mech, though they are to some extent different mechs for the same purpose.  That is to say, both the Rifleman and Jagermech do the same role of fire support with long range autocannons and the like. The Owens, I believe is a light Kurita Omni mech (though I could be wrong), and the Cauldron Born is a . . . Jade Falcon Omni?

Some point along the way, the people who produce Robotech (which is the american amalgamation of 3 Japanese cartoons) didn't like FASA using Art from one of the series, Macross even though as I understand it FASA got approval for the art from the Macross people, who knows. Anyway the art for about 15 mechs was pulled for legal purposes, never to be seen again (hence the name unseen). All of which they have since provide new art for (in the Project Phoenix technical readout).

The mechs being, the Locust, Stinger, Wasp, Phoenix Hawk, Shadow Hawk, Wolverine, Ostol, Ostroc, Marauder, Warhammer, Archer, Long Bow, Thunderbolt, Rifleman, Marauder II and Crusader.

As well, the IIC (clan equivelants) were also pulled, notably from the games the Warhammer IIC, Marauder IIC, Phoenix Hawk IIC and also the Jenner IIC which was not one of the legal problems was pulled anyway for some reason.

I'm assuming that you're on about the Anubis etc. They aren't in FS2 at all. The only way to get them is to get the FS1 to FS2 port.

The Lucifer etc don't appear in FS2 either. AFAIK [V] put the model in so that FREDders could make missions involving it (which if true was nice of them) :D

There are no stats or models for them, officially released by [V] anyway. But I'm sure these ships and others are being worked on fo the Terran-Vasudan War Mod, a project whose release I eagerly anticipate.

The SC Thanatos was in the last mission of FS2 Main Campaign, and was a Rakshasa-class cruiser. It was brutally slaughtered by the GTCv Lemnos, the GVC Ptah-Nu, and the 70th Blue Lions elite squadron.

As for the big disappearing fleet (consisting of 20-ish Fenrises, 9 Reliants, and 3 Orions), that was one of the main plot points of the FS1 campaign "Awakenings". Only one of the Fenrises (the GTC Hornbeck IIRC) made the jump from Antares to Vasuda successfully.

Two of the Orions (GTD Iowa and GTD Moscow) randomly appeared in Vasuda in 2338 (a 10-year delay), with no crew on board, and were subsequently refitted. Nothing is known of the other ships.

Of course, none of that is canon, but I've always been fond of Awakenings. It was the first campaign for FS1 that I really considered "good", besides the main campaign. And it was the first campaign that established the GTD Reliant class as the one preceding the Orion.

So.....all that dissapearing stuff was in a fan-made campaign....not in the Main Freespace Campaign.........

WTF? Reliant class destroyer......never heard of it..
Title: New Campaign: Pathways Discussion And Member Sign-Ups Here
Post by: aldo_14 on December 06, 2004, 11:03:49 am
The Reliant was, IIRC, Eishtomo's invention.

Basically, if you look at the introduction of the Typhon, then it become logical it had a predecessor; the Thanatos.  And given that, the Orion must also have been introduced during the war (or the Vasudans would have taken much less time to build the superior Typhon class), so the Orion must have had a predecessor; the Reliant.

Basically they exist to logically maintain a balance of power in the storyline.

I modelled a Reliant for the TVWP, but it could probably do with a bit of work nowadays; it was pre-HTL era stuff.
Title: New Campaign: Pathways Discussion And Member Sign-Ups Here

The Reliant was Dynamo's invention - it was first mentioned in Awakenings.  Eishtmo first proposed the idea of a "pocket Orion" (an Orion predecessor).  I decided that for TVWP's purposes they were one and the same.

Eishtmo's timeline has the Orion existing before the T-V war even started.  Considering that the Typhon first appeared in 2333 (this is canon) I'd rather the Orion be developed later in the war, but that's Eishtmo's decision.

I stand corrected.  I could have sworn Eish said the Reliant was his baby....

Hey Cobra, no offense but if this is your thread about your campaign, why don't you spend your time creating it instead of wasting your time putting ditsy little posts on here?

For a while I kept putzing around on HLP too, then when the board crashed for two weeks I got a ton of work done on my campaign (well, not a TON but a good amount). If I was still into my campaign during the great crash of 2004 I mighta been finished my campaign already (not bloody likely actually). . .

Anyway, cut the chatter and go get at 'er

True.  If people spent more time working than they did posting, a lot more would get done.

So, to encourage Cobra to work on his campaign, I am summarily closing this thread. :p
