A moment of silence please.
Feel free to post pictures of friends or family lost to aids in memoriam.

I've always felt sad on the AIDS day. But this year I'm full of hope. After years and years of being "quite close" to manufacturing THE solution we can actually SEE this solution in action.
Sure. We need incredible amounts of money to perfect the research and - most important - vaccinate everyone who needs help. But it's finally do-able.
I'm pretty sure that 2005 AIDS day will be the day of triumph. Everyone's going to see that the Big F*****g Killer is to be defeated.
And it's impressive, no matter how stupid and small-minded the humanity in general is. :D
-
So we're having a day to honour irresponsible puffs and monkey-****ers now?
Gotta love the liberalism.
-
Yeah, like all those irresponsible puffs in Africa or elsewhere, that were born infected.
an0n, you just don't know when to shut the **** up.
-
not all that contract the disease are perpetual fornicators. Rape, blood transfusion, etc. are also causes and leads to a person being victimized.
-
I'm a firm believer that people get what the deserve.
And the majority of those infected in Africa are so because they practice polygamy or gang-**** hookers after they leave work and get wasted on Friday night.
-
Actually AIDS is so rife in Africa because it's common practice for the women there use leaves to dry out the vagina before intercourse, eliminating what natural lubrication there is and increasing the chance that the lining gets damaged during penetration.
And no-one deserves to be born with it, jeez.
-

No-one deserves to be born stupid, but **** happens.
No-one deserves to be born into a warzone, but **** happens.
No-one deserves to be born into a life of anything other than absolute beauty and paradisical joy, but **** happens.
And AIDS is rife in Africa for many, many reasons - the majority of which are the people's own stupid faults. So they can go **** themselves.
-
They can, and quite evidently do.
I read something in some sciency maganize about some study that found that one of the major factors in the AIDS epidemic in Africa is the fact that people have multiple partners at the same time, which for some statistical reason which I can't quite recall is far worse than simply being promiscous (eg: one person at a time, then move on to the next).
-
I'm telling you, it's the ****ing.....err....diamond miners?
Some kinda manual labour industrial types anyways. On Friday, after work, they all head straight into town with their wages and blow it all on booze and condomless hookers.
And then there's the polygamy thing. You get one guy with 8 wives, he ****s a hooker, gets AIDS and gives it to all his wives. Then one of them cheats on him, another guy gets AIDS and HIS 8 wives all get AIDS too.
So where in a monogamous society you'd only have two guys, one woman and a hooker with AIDS, in a polygamous society you get two guys, maybe a dozen women and a hooker with AIDS.
And with 8 wives, the chances of one of them cheating is increased 8-fold.
-
...There's an AIDs Day? :nervous: I'm waaaaay outta the loop, ain't I?

You have to milk money somehow. Just imagine how much money goes to the organisations that actually recieve money for fighting AIDS.
What better than to have a special day for it to make it even more significant?
-
I like our mature outlook on people with devastating diseases. Gold stars all 'round.
-
Not really what I intended for this thread. :(
-
Don't worry, he's just trolling. You get used to it after a while.
-
If that is the case, then that must be carl in the duct work

Kazan, if you haven't figured it out this is hell.
...and an0n is just the Supereme Prelate of the Chancellory of our Supreme Lord and Savior! (who by the way, is also an0n)
-
And here I was, thinking it was one of his other aliases. Fattony, perhaps, or maybe Rane....
-
Rane is an affectation designed for NW.
And why must every thread turn intoa discussion about me? I know I kick ass and all, but Jesus......
Sufficed to say, I believe AIDS victims deserve no more charity, help or pity than the rest of us.
If they're born with it, they should be treated, if not they should be left to die. Simple.
-
Confucious says: don't feed the trolls, and they will go away, or at least stop trying so hard.
-
No, they won't.
They've decided they're sick of letting people continue to be stupid.
-
Well I am grateful that most people with positions of power take at least a marginally more compassionate approach than an0n.
-
Yeah, and that's why there's millions living in squalor all across the globe.
Because morons like you would rather look at the pretty, shiny, socially acceptable causes like Africa, that aren't caused by the people you voted into office, than - say - try to reduce homelessness, gun crime or murder rates in your own goddamn country.
-
Well now you're just making assumptions. I blab more about the issues in my own country than I do about Africa. And don't forget that AIDS is also hitting America.
-
Yes, you blab.
What was the last thing you did that reduced gun crime? Or murder rates? Or - hell - did ANYTHING for the people of Africa?
When you're actually doing something to help, then you can criticize me. Until then you can fuck off and die.
-
So was Thomas Paine just blabbing when he wrote Common Sense?
-
Was Johnathon Swift when he wrote a Modest Proposal?
-
Yes, he was. That's my point; words are actions. They're not just ethereal puffs of laziness when they're well-constructed. They affect people's thought-- they get the ball rolling, so to speak.
-
And so we see the second of mankind's greatest sins: Denial.
"I do nothing but talk, but talking is action!"
-
See? It's not that hard!
-
Show me one civilization built upon words.
-
Ever hear the phrase "Put you money where your mouth is"? Yeah. Its around for a reason.
-
"In times of generosity, the rich plead poverty"
-
You misunderstand me. I'm not claiming that civilizations are "built upon words." There are rolls that are filled in every society. The ones who take action will carry out the change, but rarely seem to have a healthy dosage of doubt about themselves. And by the same token, the people who think long and hard are rarely gifted with the blind certainty that fuels action. This is why I think people who want positions of power are often the wrong people for the job.
-
No civilization was ever built upon words.
They are built upon suffering and war, then the conquered masses are placated with words and lofty ideals.
The quest for power builds civilizations, words merely keep the masses happy enough with their droll little lives to think that sitting there *****ing will ever do anything.
Congratu-****ing-lations: You're contributing to the dominance of others!
-
So be it. I lack the humility to try and stop.
I have little genuine interest in politics to begin with. I write for artistic pursuit, not to stand on a soap box.
-
Don't get me wrong, if you're happy just living out your life then feel free to do so.
But if you're trying to effect a change, you gotta be a mover and shaker, not a sitter and *****er.
-
But I don't think that's true. Art in all vehicles can drastically change people's perspective, whether or not they understand it. The masses will, in turn, effect the change. (Whether or not the artist intended it.)
-
The masses don't effect a change, they just **** around until someone convinces them they got what they wanted.
Look at the War On Terror. People wanted to **** Al Qaeda, so they *****ed about it, then they got swung around to '**** Iraq' because it suited the governments aims better.
-
While I love a lively debate as much as the next man, this thread is intended to be a "moment-o-silence" thing, I believe. Take the AIDS debates to another thread, please.
-
Why?
It'd make more sense for the "Moment's Silence" people to move now.
And, like voting, non-participation implies endorsement of the winning side (which, in a one-sided thread, would be the 'they deserve respect' people), which is unacceptable.
-
Personally, I tend to agree with you. But that doesn't matter - the discussion relocates or dies here.
-
Eh? So you'd rather uproot a discussion that's some.....****-knows how many posts long, than have redmenace start another, clean, shiny thread?
-
It's the whole who-was-here-first idea, you see?
-
Not really. Maybe if you admin'd me I'd see it more clearly.
-
.............. hurray for AIDS day!
-
I already admined you. You didn't like it. Remember? :D

One day, Shrike or Thunder will get drunk and wander onto IRC. We'll get chatting, I'll lure them in like some cheap bar-whore with sweet words and pleasant conversation; "I could fix things" I'll say; "I'll be good, I promise" I'll lie. Then, in the dead of the Israeli night, while you lay sound asleep in some tent on Palestinian land lamenting your lack of a net connection - BAM! You're ass is de-admin'd and my reign of terror begins.

Good luck then. I have reserves starting February 7th, 2005 to March 3rd, 2005.
I also have a cellphone with bluetooth and net access. :D
-
That can be disabled by a call to a Palestinian hacker guy I may or may not know, and a microwave oven.
