Target says they've had a long standing anti-solicitation policy. Understand, the Salvation Been has had Bell Ringers in front of Target for nearly 20 years with Target's approval. In past years they have collected as much as $8,000,000 in front of Target stores. That's $8,000,000 they won't get this year, despite the other retail chains that have stepped up. This is a despicable act.

except that they dont let anybody stand outside their stores, should be happy that theyve let them stand out there as long as they have. I mean, mcdonalds doesent let salvation army stand outfront, neither does burger king or wendys, or 7-11. At least not as far as i've seen.
Why dont we go attacking every store that salvation army cant stand outside of hmm?

You're example are stupid krackers, those are retail stores that cater to upper-middle class suburbanites with more money than sense who can afford to donate a dollar or two on their way out of the store with their bags of loot.

Fine, whatabout a Kays? Office Depot? Staples? Bed Bath n Beyond? How bout a comp usa?
-
One more reason not to like monolithic big-box retailers, Target included.

Meanwhile, Wal-Mart is still raping its employees without lubrication and nobody cares.

Yeah..... You guys wanna know the real reason their not letting bell ringers infront of their stores?
Well at a lot of locations, the ringers have been harassing customers and employees alike. And not just trying to get them to donate money, either. A lot of the cases are sexually related. They have been dealing with it for YEARS, but just kept shrugging it off and ignoring it until the president of the company's daughter, or granddaughter, I can't remember which, got sexually harrased. And she is only 14.....
So, yeah. That's why. And don't tell me this is bull**** because my father is the head store planner for the layout of Target stores, and this is all he has been talking about as of late.

Then why hasn't that been in the news? The closest thing I've heard is that a few of the customers are bothered by the constantly ringing bell. I there has been a problem with the Bell Ringers propositioning people then Target should have confered with the SA privately and fixed the problem, or filed charges against the perps. Just because they are affiliated with the SA as Bell Ringers doesn't mean they represent what the SA stands for.
Also, I sincerely doubt the Salvation Army is in the practice of allowing such shenanigans to go on, the most I've ever heard a Bell Ringer say is "Thank You." Something that hasn't been publicized all that loudly is that some of the Bell Ringers actually get paid, most are voluteers, but for a portion of them it's how they earn the extra money to get gifts for their kids and put food on the table.

Because the news has been too busy telling us about how to combat erectile dysfunction. Y'know, the important stuff.
