Title: Multiplayer?
Post by: Gene on December 03, 2004, 11:50:14 am
I'd like to be able to play FS2 multiplayer over PXO.

Can HOTU version play over PXO? And how do I get a username and password? The PXO website gives an error when I try to register.

I believe PXO is down forever now. You have to use the SCP alternative, which someone here can probably point you to  (I don't play multiplayer, sorry).

PXO is indeed dead and buried. Go look in the SCP forum for an installation guide.

I followed instructions of the manual, but it says "FS2Net connection failed" (I made sure my login and password at the PXO box are the same as the ones I registered on FS2Net).

You have to download a config file. The one from the Wiki did not help me. So just download the Media VP file from the Wiki. I think the it is the Media VP Core. Its under SCP . Hope that helps.:)

OK so now it connects. But it says "you are playing with hacked table files". I never modified anything in the .vp files. How can I fix the problem?

That, and also when I connected I found no servers. Is it just because nobody is hosting, or is it a problem on my end?

I just posted on your other thread, to solve that, take out your ship tbl, weapons, and that should take it off. Have Fun, about your other one, no one is probly playing. Not many play right now hopefully it will change.

Umm could you please explain? I don't really know what you're talking about. Where are the tables are need? Do I need to edit .vp files and delete things for them? Will that have any side effects? Step by step please.

Check your tables folder in the FS2 directory, if there is a thing called ship.TBL or weapon.tbl, save somewhere else and delete. And if you don't, I don't think its a big deal, I am not sure they even keep score. And are you new to FS2?, if you are I sugest you cheak the Wiki, for some help in telling you what things do and such.

Ok, the only thing I can think off is the the Media VP core is causing that. Like I said above don't really worry about that thing saying about hacked files. But, like I said if you are new to FS2 or the SCP, check the Wiki, it should help alot.

Check here maybe they can help you with that message.

He needs to also turn all graphics-related command line options like spec, environment mapping, etc. off. I had -spec in my command line and got the hacked tables message.

It's nothing to do with -spec or the other launcher options.

I'll bet that Gene installed 3.6 using the installer and installed speffects along with it.

I gave a fuller explaination on the other thread.

meh.  i remember the "hacked table files" in FS1 PXO :-/  it would never save your stats if you had "hacked table files"
