http://www.healthtalk.ca/testosterone_patch_12052004_8222.php
Am I the only one to see more than a "potential" problem with women using testosterone (of all hormones) as an aphrodisiac?
-
It makes them furry like animal! Grr baby, grrr!
-
So what we'll end up with is a bunch of horny women, but they'll all be turned into butch lesbians by the drug?
Kind of negates the desired effects, no?
-
Yes, but butch lesbians are still lesbians.
-
Why is it I find the thread title strangely amusing......?
-
Um, why does a woman need a "viagra"? I thought viagra was to help blokes who can't get it up for whatever reason. As far as I'm aware, women don't have anything to "get up", so what's the point?
ChronoReverse: IIRC, testosterone is the hormone responsible for sexual desires and urges*. Women don't have it in nearly as large amounts as men, but they still have it.
*Note: this may be pure garbage. :D

men get hard women get wet
I was going to put tthat less crudely, but it doesn't get the point acrss as well.
-
It's true that women do produce small amounts of testosterone. But to use it wantonly like viagra is really asking for trouble.
I'm just pointing out the way they say that "more clinical tests will be required to determine if there are any long-term side effects". Do they mean side-effects beyond growing facial hair?
-
nothing a bathtub full of nair won't fix.
-
hehehe clinical tests...
Where do you sign up? :D

bob: Yeah, but you can use a simple substitute for that, which is probably vastly cheaper, and definitely safer than a chemical intervention. A man would be physically incapable of performing, but a woman would still technically be able to. It might not be as pleasant/comfortable, but there's no physical obstacle.
I'm still not quite getting this - is this meant to be a solution to medical problems, or merely an aphrodisiac? 'Cos there's loads of natural aphrodisiacs...
Chrono: Oh, yeah - long term testosterone treatment for women leads to all kinds of stuff. (I think) things like bad-temperedness, loss of fertility, and more. I suppose it would depend how often it was used. I mean, once in a while wouldn't do much. Women's testosterone levels skyrocket when they get drunk, for example. Frequent use would, I suspect, cause problems though....
-
I wonder if excess testosterone would make women flat...
-
Maybe they'll grow penises. *Shudder* Then they'll get erections but I won't... ever again....
-
Hmm... there used to be libido-reducing drugs adminstered to gay people who were convicted. Alan Turing was one of the victims of these sorts of drugs, he actually grew unnaturally large breasts due to the estrogen in the drug.
So testosterone might have an opposite effect.
-
Yeah. Gets you horny, and/or aggressive. Also gives you heart problems and fertility issues (I think)...

I was eating when I got to that post, and choked in laughter.
I guess it was my own fault for picking such a thread to read while eating dinner eh?
