Truespace is officially driving me mad!
I want to texture a model, so I select the subobject I want to texture, click UV per face, select the faces to assign the UV space to, press apply, and
This application has caused an illegal operation and will be shut down.
I really begin to assume that this damned program hates me.
-
Yes, it hates you. It also hates me.
It's a very angry program.
-
I figued out how to solve that. You need t oassign a global UV begore using UV per face.
-
I think you should better run ten times around your PC, cry and beg truespace to let you be his slave, and maybe it'll let you make UV maps :-D

I solved it. All I had to do was to assign a global UV space to the entire model before using the UV per face tool.
This special model is for the HLP contest, and I won't suggest anyone trying to put it into Freespace.
-
Heheh... awesome. We deliberately made it so that the model did not have to be in pof, because conversion problems and poly reduction both reduce the quality of the model and also increase the time taken to create the model. Once it's done, though, we may try to convert it (if possible).
-
It has currently about 3000 faces, most of them on turrets. It also has multiple subobjects. And some of the turrets would need to be redone since the multipart structure somehow got lost during the conversion to COB (Rhino expired, so I had to use another program, that was not intended to be used for 3000 poly models.)
-
Ouch. Hopefully you can get something sorted out. Artimus uses Rhino, btw - if he's willing, you two can work on the model together and submit it as a project together. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
I hope the next generation of conversion proggies support a good number of polys. With the new engines coming out, 3000 is nothing.
-
The Rhino problem is easyly solved: format c: and reinstall Windows.
And the model is now in Truespace, after I survived the conversion process. I will find a solution for the turrets, I think I will redo them slightly and import the parts individually. But this special kind of turret has already 90 faces.

I like your way of thinking. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

The only other way I can think of is to spend $300 to buy a students license, and that is all I have.
-
I just finished the main hull of my model. Textured it too.
Hmm... do the textures need to be my own?
-
I hate reinstalling windows (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Reinstalling Windows is not that bad, just takes about half an hour. But getting all the software back onto the hard drive, including drivers and so on is a pain. Good that I have all my important data on another drive, so I don't have to back it up before. That would also take ages with a 8* CD-R that only runs at 4* speed.

No, that would probably be considered cruel and unusual.
