Remember when the Matrix was cool, back in the day?
Yeah, me too.
Now, we have
standard industry booby appeal (http://www.worthplaying.com/press/160/combat_2.jpg)
leprechauns (http://www.worthplaying.com/press/160/closeup_1.jpg)
more boobies (http://www.worthplaying.com/press/160/combat_3.jpg)
some sort of trendy robot-undead type thing (check the filename) (http://www.worthplaying.com/press/160/a_face_only_mom_could_love.jpg)
fricking cowboys (http://www.worthplaying.com/press/160/battle_5.jpg)
ravers of some sort (check out the super-detailed environments) (http://www.worthplaying.com/press/160/confrontation.jpg)
and various (http://www.worthplaying.com/press/160/tattoos_1.jpg) other shenanigans (http://www.worthplaying.com/press/160/group2.jpg)
Not to mention the graphics, which look like a throwback to the days of Deus Ex and Unreal Tournament.
more good stuff over here

Meh, I didn't think the Matrix would ever make a good game. This only proves it.
-
Enter the Matrix was a pretty good game. Decent graphics, nice gameplay and lots of intersting back-story.
-
Hahahahahahaha!
The Matrix is the ****.
The Matrix(TM) is just ****. Another massive franchise hits rock bottom.
What is that, some MMO game? It looks bloody awful.
-
Oh dear, oh dear :(
-
I have to say, I've read about this game and it looks really awesome to me. And I'm actually not joking this time.
Please don't hurt me.
-
oh, alright.
*bothers Ford Perfect alot*

Something you should note, Everquest didn't look top-of-the-line when it came out and hasn't until 2 came out. That didn't stop people from playing it, now did it?
The reason for the sub-standard graphics is to make sure that everyone wanting to play woun't be hindered by insanely over-done graphics, just bandwidth i'd immagine. It's a marketing ploy, and if it pays off in a great online experience, good for the publishers/developers.
Bottom line: It may not look as good as some of the sensory-overload inducing games that have come out recently, but that should only hinder the shallowest of gamers.
-
I can't see the appeal.
[conversation on Matrix MMO game]
Neo153: I is t3h 0ne! Ph34r |\/|e!!
Neo945: No, I is t3h 0n3!
Morpheus221: Sil3nce f001! I am t3h 1!!!1!
Trinity4773: Oh n0es! T3h agent5 r 4tt4cking!!1!
*Cue much bullet-time gunplay and infeasible/silly martial arts moves*
*repeat forever*
Call me a cynic, but that doesn't sound like fun to me....
-
thats not the point
the point is that what I've seen of the game s far bears as much resemblance to The Matrix as it does to, say, Anarchy Online.
-
Or, looking at the third picture you posted - Ninja Clowns of Death.... Which might actually be fun :)

Aye, but I suppose they have to have a variety of player models otherwise everyone would look the same. There's not much you can really do with a black trenchcoat and shades. So they've gone for standard crappy "futuristic"/"cool" stuff like incredibly revealing tops and shiny fabrics instead.
Which, yes, does make it entirely un-Matrix-y. With the exception of that nasty green colour the leprechaun's wearing...
-
The thing is, if the survival of these people depended on the Agents not recognising them, why did they all look they were taking a break from an Ultravox video?
-
Looks intresting.
To be anal, those are beatnicks not ravers, or at least that one dude.

Seconded.
It's the only MMRPG that has any interested in.

But there's no bullet time, and nobody's outfit is cool besides mine. :D
-
The bad thing about Enter the Matrix(according to several reviewers) was that you could download a martial arts mod for Max Payne and have basically the same gameplay.
-
Aye. Kung Fu mod. Was bloody good fun. A bit buggy, and there was no actual kung fu in it at all (looked more like karate or tae kwon do), but really good.
-
Where's the night? Where's the fog? Where's the atmosphere?? This looks nothing like The Matrix.

Both of those can be achieved depending on how much you've had to drink.
-
i know precisely what it would be like in practice (http://ctrlaltdel-online.com/?t=archives&date=2004-05-21)

Hang on a minute, you are complaining about chicks with low cut dresses/short skirts/shiny boots?
Jeeze... just when you think you know somebody
-
When thouest boobies be not real, thouest boobies not be titillating.
-
Fair point, but I don't mind eye-candy in games, as long the gameplay doesn't suck too much...;)
-
Yay BOOBIES!!!
[Give me a break, I'm entering my 4th childhood...] :P

Ah, but the designers spend too much time bump-mapping nipples rather than making sure you don't get killed by the same impossible trap each time.
