I may upload it at HLP soon if you want, or at least the alternative blue and purple version.

hop, 5 other screens, 10 more to come coz the ani looks completly different from the begining to the end
I don't like blue shockwaves, I prefer fire like ones. Anyway, I already have a blue one lol, but I won't post pics of it, imagine the same one with blue, white and purple bits.
the 5 next: http://www.geocities.com/venom250681/shockwavepage03.html?991873774000 ("http://www.geocities.com/venom250681/shockwavepage03.html?991873774000")

Well, when you have a red color, it normally means there's combustion going on. And since most of the things that cause shockwaves are nukes.....
-
last 5 pics: http://www.geocities.com/venom250681/shockwavepage04.html?991874274590 ("http://www.geocities.com/venom250681/shockwavepage04.html?991874274590")
Yeah I know, but if you want realism, just delete shockwaves then, coz in vacuum, no shockwave... I like yellow ones coz it looks cool, not because it's realistic...
-
Hey, that's good! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif):
-
Nice work...But I want the ANI. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
And if you don't like the color, all it takes is 15 seconds and Irfanview to fix. I definitely want to give the new shape a try though.

Not quite true. You won't have real shockwaves (kinetic energy being transferred through a medium like an atmosphere) but you WILL have a rapidly expanding cloud of superheated vapor and debris from the explosion. The explosions in FS2 are actually pretty realistic. Keep in mind that in an atmosphere the shockwave from something with the yield of a helios would be destroying buildings at a distance of 10km or more. The reason that the explosions in FS2 are as small as they are compared to the explosion yield, is because its just debris being expelled from the target and the bomb itself.

Definitely worthy of downloading.

no no....a helios is 10 GIGATONS. Knocking over buildings at 10km, you could do with a medium kt-low mt nuke.
-
Beautiful. I really want to see it move. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Well, that actually kinda makes my point more valid =)
-
One question... I made only the shockwave01.ani... is it useful to make the s...01_1 and so on?
If not I can send the two versions now...

How about one of those multi-colour, colour-spectrum shocckwaves. I've seen them in lots of sci-fi films. They're kind of cheesy, but they look very pretty. I've wanted someone to do one of those for a long time.

Awesome schockwaves man! When are you going to release the battleship?
------------------
(http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/alienz/abduct.gif)
Let's say it together...
Unidan (YOU-NIH-DAN)
Good, now say it 50 times fast. Excellent, you may now procceed to TSM-20724 2337
-
the battleship? what battleship?
For release things, anyway, I'll do my campaign in several episodes of 5 missions each, so as soon as I have all the mods done, the first part should be out quickly. But as I'm on my own exepted from Darkage who decided to help me recently (thanx dude (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)), and as exepted him nobody never even replied to my help requests, well, you'll have to wait.

how many times do i have to tell you guys that the helios is not 10 gigatons?
-
Why isn't it? Going by the Harbinger (which is the closest weapon to it) it ends up being roughly 10.6 gigatons.
-
10.6 gigatons seems abit excessive what the hell are ships made of in fs2 neutronium???? a normal nuke will melt any alloy vaporise it a ground zero - so evena normal nuke could do ALOT of damage unless you have shields which can stop radiation - hmmm nevermind who cares its a big bomb

Wasn't it crushed molybdenum, or sumtin' like tat' ?

Doesn't that cause cancer? i wouldn't want to work in Bosch's navy, then.
-
They are probably able to deplete the Uranium more thoroughly then we are.
-
Bah, depleted uranium is mostly harmless. Stick a couple inches of steel behind it and you're safe. It's half life is 4.5 billion years. That's a long time.
-
Unless someone has the truely great idea of mixing undepleted Uranium into the material for his cannon shells...

Venom. May I please have this shockwave? I've never liked Volition's shockwaves, but your one looks perfect!! Is it available for download yet? Or can you please send it to me at [email protected]
By the way, you could have more than one shockwave ani... Just tell the relative weapon's explosion ani to be one of the new shockwave ones (understand?).

yeah, I'll send it to you. Not now, coz I'm tired and will go to sleep tho, and I have to ake the package again.
for the explosion, you can add only one (or two or three don't remember, but not more) more, so it's not a very good idea.
-
Thanks Venom!!

The only problem I have with the whole 'near-vaccuum' of space dampening the blast effects of a nuclear blast.
Alright, I completely understand this, but when a helios/harbinger hits the hull of a ship, it would make sense that it would blow some kind of hole in the side of the ship.
The shockwave then has an atmosphere to move through, so wouldn't cascade down passageways and rooms, the combustion/wave incinerating everything along it's path untill the smaller wave(s) have finally worked themselves out?

If we wanted complete realism, the entire ship would decompress as soon as a laser or a missile punched through the hull..

That would look so cool - I'll have to tell Styxx to put that into an MT cutscene. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Thankee.
For a visual reference, look at the final episode of babylon 5 where they blow up the station.
It would be a pain in the rear to do though, it's great to visualize, but the actual work... Ouch.

That's not entirely true, You would still get a solar-wind effect from such weapons that would cause a shockwave-like effect. Although it would be far less dramatic than a terrestrial shockwave (you just can't beat solid matter for storing and releasing kinetic energy (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif) )
Besides, it looks soooooooo much cooler that way...
-
We should get debris being flung from the explosion... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
