Maxis have come up with the ultimate BB for the Sims2 I must admit, they just open up a board, let people suggest. talk, complain amongst themselves and completely ignore the fact the BB exists ;)
I've been browsing the board for a while, it contains hundreds of suggestions and complaints and virtually no response from Maxis whatsoever... It's the perfect way of keeping the peasants happy ;)
-
yay for Maxis. I've always been a fan of theirs... actually I was a beta tester for the original Sims Game, though those days are long since past.
Still, with a really popular game and unmoderated boards, it's sure to quickly descend into Forum Hell. Ah well.
-
I would thought Sims forum = forum hell anyways....
-
My first toe-dip into Maxisworld was SimCity on the Nintendo back in... 1992? 93?

Wait for the expansion pack.

Sims 2: Snuffin' Out!

Sims 2: Junkieville (Edinburgh edition)

 Well the funny thing is the board IS moderated, there are people who delete abusive posts etc, they just completely totally and utterly ignore every suggestion on there, they don't even bother to respond with 'Not a chance sucker! Thanks for the cash!'.
The funniest part was when Maxis released a Menorah and someone 'dared' call it a candlestick, I've never seen people climb up the wall so fast ;)
I'm getting tempted to start a little flame war in the ideas section, accusing Maxis of completely ignoring the people it's getting it's money from, just for giggles :)

HOW dare J00 insu1t THE GODS MAXIS!
(sneak preview)
the thing is; internet is full of arseholes (You can't deny it.....). Sims = biggest game. Therefore; sims forums must contain highest number of arseholes in the internet.

that's because they're the moderators. They don't necessarily work at Maxis HQ (in their programming teams).
Maxis in all likelyhood does read a lot of the stuff, they just don't comment on it (cause with the numbers posting there they'd be doing only that: answering posts).
As far as I'm aware.

The reason most companies don't have active admins on their boards are because the people given the power to admin the boards are almost always so far down the chain of command that they're not allowed to comment on ANYTHING without first checking with the marketting and legal departments of the game-maker's parent company.
-
My first was SimCity Classic/SimEarth/SimFarm in the mid 90s. Ph34r the triple pack....
Incidentally, the best official boards I've been on were the Bioware boards before NWN was actually released. The high-ups posted consistently, and there was a guy who vaguly resembled an0n (went by the name of Karzak the Friendly Half-Orc. Requested that things like selectable breast size and equipment for torturing elves be in the game). Then the game was released, and the board was flooded by n00bs...

SimAnt.
Err
Anyways, I never bothered with Sim stuff till I got the SC2000 demo.
-
Well, there are Moderators and things called 'Maxoids' which are Maxis employees, both of them exist purely to lock threads, I'm more inclined to agree with An0n here, that they are such small frys they have to check everything first.
The thing is, what is the difference between 'not reading' and 'not responding'. From the point of view of the people on the boards, there is none.
-
I liked Sim Ant, and Sim Tower...
And yes, it is quite VBBish...
-
SimTown was the ****.

'I'm sorry, I passed out through lack of oxygen halfway though your post ;)'
-------------------------------------------------
No offence to anyone here, but as a 32 year old can I just say that if you find anything 'exciting' about putting skins onto a collection of about 600 polygons, then you really need to click on Exit, pick up the real phone and go out and do something else ;) I can't honestly imagine a 'decent' reason to create them.

hehehehe I'm having fun ;)

I'm not sure if you can register without owning the Sims 2, I think you can, but just can't download anything ;)
