well, i dont have the pictures on this computer (sorry!) but i can post them up soon.
i hi-polified the raynor, being as its my favorite ship in the game (retail or MODs) by a long shot. so, i figure it deserved it.
i didnt get permission to do it from, uh, whoever-made-it :nervous: so im not sure if its 'legal', but i dont plan to do anything with it until i get permission from either whoever-made-it or an Empowered One (ie, inferno team member :D )
i will post pics at first oppertunity...
[edit] oh, and its finished, except for turrets (which i think are good enough, really) and POFfing.
-
StratComm released it publicly, so I don't think you need to worry about permission... and if you'd like to send it to us we'd like to take a look!
-
Several people worked in the Raynor, so I'm not sure who made the original mesh.
Ask StratComm if you can, he might be able to help with contacting the ones who made it.
-
aparently it was by someone named 'CD CODEDOG', and he hasnt been seen for 2 years >.<
BTW, its ~3500 polys. i think thats acceptable for a 3km long ship...
oh, and i also got aldos permission to UBERize the warlock, too. my goal is to make HIM think that its cool ;)

GTD Raynor V1.2 by Stratcomm, LtNarol, CODEDOG ND, and mikhael
--General----------------------------
This model was originally created be CODEDOG ND and finished by LtNarol and mikhael. I have completed its development by turreting and tabling only, all credit for the model itself goes to its creators.
Suppose ask either Stratcomm or one of the others then.
-
righto...
ill check back with a picture in a few hours, methinks.
-
I actually read the posts here before the PM, and I really don't mind you beefing it up. I've been meaning to high-polify it anyway, so you're saving me the work. The other people involved in its creation were CODEDOG NG as you've mentioned, Mikhael, and Lt. Narol (those guys work on the 158th). The point of the mod, though, was a public WIP, where everyone who wanted to could have a hand in working on it, so you are perfectly welcome to finish your model.
The only thing that I would ask that you adhere to the original spirit of the mod and make it a public release. If you're dead-set against it then I'm not going to stop you from using what you have however you'd like, but I'd like it public if that's at all possible.
-
i woudlnt dare hold back the coolest ship in the game from the public :) (i mean the raynor, not my upgrade specifically ;) )
i will get pictures, again, as soon as i can (STILL working! >.< )
-
ok, so heres some pictures of it.
NOTE that this was more of a messing-around upgrade than an HTL improvement. im open to suggestions.
ALSO NOTE that if one of the pictures is a red X, then just right click and hit 'show picture' or refresh. theyre all there.

and here is some texturing i did:

so, how do you dislike my model? :p
-
Nice stuff... How about improving the turrets a bit? Especially the barrels looks a bit out of place now...
Great work btw ;)
-
thx :)
i just havnt gotten round to doing anything with the barrels at all yet... i will eventually.
-
How about you change the long barrel guns to more inset guns. Plus make the hanger fly through.
-
the hangar IS fly through! :p
shorter barrels...? well, ok... but it IS supposed to be anti fighter - i think those are flak.
-
It doesn't matter really, we'll probably replace the barrel turrets so they fit in with our standard Terran guns
-
Wow, that's actually pretty l33t. Props to you.
-
Cool. If I were redoing it I'd mount my guns on it; they have shorter barrels and are better all around. What program did you do to make the update?
-
trueSpace: I swear by it, others swear at it.
i love truespace ;) IMO it has one of the best interfaces ive seen. plus, i like the rendering tools :)
BTW, i WAS thinking about kinda rounding it off in the GTVA curveyness, but if you think about it, it would look a little too much like something from star trek due to its general shape.
-
The long flak barrels are really pretty ridiculous, in my opinion. The only thing they do is look cool...and make you expect them to spew something much deadlier then just long-range or heavy flak at you. You don't actually need barrels that size.
-
I am of the habit of replacing flak with large rail guns on turrets like those anyway.
-
Very nice HTL update.
Only one thing. Resize those ultra big miltiple turrets, half sieze of it would look better:nod:
-
yeah, they are too big arent they?
what im prolly gonna do is simply upgrade the turrets (not change their shape) and then release it (because this is an upgrade, and in HTL upgrades you want to CHANGE as little as possible). after that, im going to just give it to inferno, because as they said, theyll probably change the turrets anyhow. ill let em do whatever they want :p
-
This is just awesome. I love your work Grimloq.
BTW the old model was great as well, the design is very good.
-
Looks great
How many polygons?

be interesting to see aldo's reaction to this...
-
*snickeR*
actually, it seems you guys already remade the warlock :)
i asked him if he hd any objections to me upgrading the warlock, he said he didnt. so... meh. i havnt actually done anything to it yet.
-
Don't worry about sticking to "canon" on those turrets. While I like the look they give when sitting flat, the default rotation makes them look like broomsticks or something sticking up from the hull. I never was particularly thrilled about them.
-
The Warlock was remade?
-
There's a Warlock 2 in one of Aldos modeldumps.
-
look in the 'picture release thread' in this forum. its somewhere near the end. though the piccy is quite dark and hard to see, its clearly Miss Independance ;)

yeah, thats it. im not a big fan of it myself. looks too much like a warship than a carrier. but im not making hte campaign :)
-
I think I like it. Thanks for the link Woo.
-
Nice raynor. It looks very nicely upgraded. I like it now. (I didn't before)
-
Very slick man, cheers. :)
-
hehe thxors :)
-
Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the name "Raynor" wouldn't happen to have to coincide with the fact that it looks like the hovercraft previously owned by a certain unnamed Starcraft characterr?
-
Because of this, I upgraded 2 TVWP capships.
-
...
interesting point nuclear...

I don't really give a **** about my old models, anyways. Only the newer HTL stuff, because I've been able to get closer to what I really want to do with those.

Is that counting 4a and 4b?
-
I'm guessing 4b is what I call 5.

I don't care how you change up the Raynor. You just saved me alot of time of Hi-polyinging it! Just give the original designers credit. I originally made the ship in ts4.2 with a crap load of geometery errors and such, and I posted on the forum, b/c the model just looked too cool enough to just erase. I'm glad I didn't just erase it. Mihkeal and LtNarol fixed most of the errors and added thier on little bits and pieces to the model. I'm the same with Stratcomm on hoping that you will make it a public release since it started out as that anyways, but if not then I don't care. I just like that I had some kind of impact on the community. :)
<--- CODEDOG ND if you were wondering.
