Clicky! (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news04/041203i.php)
Apparently it will be neither set on Mars nor feature demons from hell.
-
I could understand if they were improving it.
But they're making it worse. It boggles the mind!

One character is a technician called "Pinky" who has a cybernetic wheelchair thanks to a bad teleporting accident. Pinky later mutates into something remotely resembling a creature from Doom 3. Producers claim that the film will be more of a horror than an action shooter.

All we need is Bruce Campbell as the Marine and it sounds like the comedy of the year to be honest....
-
This just pisses me off. I am not going to see a movie that based on something but has nothing to do with it, esspecially since I'm a hardcore Doom fan. DEATH TO THE MOVIE PRODUCERS!
-
*sigh* There is aa established rule here:
Game based movies suck.
Get over it....

-
Final Fantasy?
Although it had nothing to do with any game of the series...
Pinky
-
And it was still crap anyway!
-
Tomb Raider?
I can't decide if the movie was worse than the game, i hate both to be sure :)

You DIDN'T like Mortal Kombat! I'll admit that it's not the greatest movie ever but it's a halfway decent martial arts movie.
-
It had its own name yelled out as part of the soundtrack!
-
Their making a Halo movie (possibly) with Ridley Scot Directing. I hope it doesn't suck.

(NB: not sure what you mean by 'possibly')
AFAIK Ridley Scott hasn't agreed to direct, just been approached; although the move is confirmed. (at least, that's what imdb says)

Of course it does. If it didn't the MTV generation it was made for might forget what they were watching. :D
-
Not sure if there gonna go through with it. They will if Ridley Scott directs (as per requirements of Bungie in order to hand over license).
-
Let's just pretend it isn't Doom.
Bio Force Gun? wtf is that? did I miss something from the games?

That, it seems, will not be a difficuly ;) They got the Name, what else did you think they wanted? ;)
-
I thought that was just PA joking around.
...ewwww.
-
It still pisses me off. I have been playin Doom since it came out in 1993. It was the first M-rated game I ever played. I was about 7 years old at the time. And since I am a big fan, this makes me want to puke.
-
Eh. I liked the Final Fantasy movie. Besides, it's not like the Final Fantasy games have much to do with each other, aside from the carryover of giant chickens and teddybears with antennas and wings.
Someday, though, I hope to see a movie that's actually reasonably true to the storyline of the original game. I can accept stuff getting cut out. I can't accept blatant butchery of the plot.
-
Yeah, it's not going to be a good movie regardless of what they do with the plot. Lets face it, Doom has essentially no plot anyway. And the "Bio Force Gun" is the BFG, though the name has obviously changed to allow it to be said on-air.
-
From the description, it sounds more like System Shock than Doom.
-
Tombraider was actually kinda OK, I thought they had at least put some effort into it, and Angelina did well.
But FF was stuck up it's own ass - OMG! SPESHUL EFFECTS!
I didn't make the effort to see any of the others, but I sense they were all pretty meh..
I think they could *possibly* do something with Halo, but Doom? I doubt it...
-
what the hell is wrong with people these days?
i mean, a movie can have sex and gore in it, and people won't give a **** about it, but mention hell and the whinging bloody little bible-bashers put up a big stink about it..
bastards.

As long as it uses the books as a plot. The Fall of Reach could make a kickass film if done right.
-
Halo film will be about a rookie soldier in a group of Space Marines, who has to face both the mysterious aliens from abandoned colony AND face the corporation that is guilty of murdering his family! And not just that - there's a mutiny growing inside the squad...
Developing...

I think it would be it's own saga in halo universe
-
This better be a joke, otherwise *pulls out a chainsaw*
-
It's not a joke alas, and watch the wiring with that thing ;)

saw that in Event Horizon already. kind of.
but there it actually was hell. and they were in space. not mars, tho, but jupiter. liberate toteme ex inferis
and I liked the tomb raider movie, actually. and I had a laugh watching street fighter. jean-claude is always watchable, and having kylie in it, well...
-
They probably thought the DOOM plot was too close to Hellboy to make a viable film so they ripped off Resident Evil instead.
-
I hope they realise that the majority of the people who would want to watch the film think it sounds like a pile of **** and change it. But I guess it's already too late for that.

A 'decaying orbit around Neptune', wasn't it?

it can have been. it was a while since I watched it. I can get back to you in this matter in a couple of weeks, as I think I'll rewatch it somewhere there.
-
Yep, Event Horizon was located in the upper atmosphere of Neptune...at least for the duration of the film ;)
-
aren't you spoiling a bit too much?
-
Point taken :)
