Title: For those of you who own N-Gage QD
Post by: Aggressor_Squad on December 12, 2004, 06:41:12 pm
Having got an N-Gage QD as an early Christmas present, i was kinda dissapointed that it doesnt have mp3 capabilities. My friend says that with the proper software and stuff it's possible, but he was very vague...can any shed light on this?

Don't own of these, but from what I read, there exist Java applications to play mp3 files. In addition, you either need a card reader or a bluetooth connection to transfer the files to the N-Gage QD, since it has no USB connector.

Ask for a PSP instead. Its everything the Ngage is, only better.

...the only problem is that its not available outside of Japan yet (and even there it only launched a few days ago.)

Although PSPs have horrible battery life....

I say wait for the market to mature a bit if anyone is wanting to purchase a console.

Why on earth are you recommending him to buy a PSP when he wants mp3 playback?  Not to mention it's quite impossible to get a PSP right now since the 200,000 units that were available at the Japan launch are most definitely sold out while the US launch isn't coming until March.

doesn't the PSP have mp3 playback?

I just assumed it had, well, everything. I mean, you can play movies on it, it has wireless networking...isn't mp3 capability a no-brainer?

It does have mp3 support.  But suggesting him buy that when cheaper alternatives are available is like suggesting a Lamborghini Diablo when someone inquires about getting transportation device to get to school.

It'll get the job done, but it's probably not exactly the solution he's looking for
