Title: Anyone interested in Starblazer's? Say the Yamato?
Post by: Warlock on March 29, 2001, 12:51:00 pm
I've got a model of her, but I need someone to help reduce the polys down to a usable level. Right now she's about 3K.

Anyone willing to help?

*I've got working models of the later Black Tiger/Cosmo Tiger fighters and bombers, aside from turreting data these DO work in game.*

Lol, it's an anime term for the spaceships that are built like flying naval vessels.  Look at the Yamato...like I said, it's a perfect example.  It's not a bad thing, BTW.

The Yamato rocked! Do not underestimate the Japanese. I can foresee that they will be one of the first few countries to explore space like hell.

Since the Yamato is so rounded, a poly reduction in Truespace might actually work decently. I would try it.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I did. One flaw,..all the fin parts get out right screwed by TS in a poly reduction  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)

I don't know if this is an "out on a limb" idea but have you tried converting it to max and using mesh optimise?

Good news
I've got a Yamato that converts into POF format,..in modelview32 it appears to have a few faces flipped so once I can get all those handled we just might have her ready to go  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

One thing i WILL need thou,..a texture artist to help handle that part.

it's not all to complicated,..mostly battleshipgrey and red hull. upper half's the grey while the lower is red.

If anyone's willing to handle makiing those lemme know I can get plenty of pics.

*yes I've tried but every texture I use from photoshop ends up weird looking in FS2,..guess it's the palette or something  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif) *
