I...want...it...NOW!
Hell, I'd join the army right now, if they'd just give me one of those suits (the real kind, not the prop one).
-
That thing sounds so much like a HEV suit it's scary!
-
Robocop, Terminator, iRobot, all that stuff will happen in time....
As for nanotechs, of course it's only a matter of time before they escape into the bloodstream....

Power armours are the future. AI, many synthetic fibers, unmanned combat vehicles, electromagnetic shielding, missile defence, laser weaponry, space elevator and genetics are things that have been fiction until the last few decades. I have faith in humanity, after all - our adaptability is so incredible that I believe that one day we will discover FTL travel and find other civilizations. I will be dead when it happens, but still.

Power Armor == Realistic Mecha. As opposed to Battletech, which is as realistic as Star Wars....

Isn't FTL supposedly an Impossibility?
And you won't be dead if they figure out that 'live 1000 years' thing mentioned a while ago ;)
-
Didn't someone post this last year, when they wheeled out exactly the same concept suit?

"Impossible" doesn't exist in a scientist's vocabulary. ;)

Neither do several other things, like quantum mechanics.

Ah, but just because it's the best theory doesn't make it correct, does it?
-
Well there are methods for "FTL" travel - gravity wells and so - but they usually require pretty insane amounts of energy. And by insane I do not mean terawatts, I mean energy outputs of several stars at least.

HA! I have one on me right now! I always wear it when I'm hanging in here, so flaming won't harm me :D

Look Out!! Behind You!!

Oh, I've seen this posted on here before.
Why would a soldier need shoulder pads anyway? Its not like they're going to be doing any rolling around.

Diving for cover.
