Title: The Direction of my life in the balance...You decide!
Post by: Roanoke on December 18, 2004, 08:52:21 am
I have the time/money/patience to do one evening (after work) college course a night. Which should I go for, 'cos I sure as hell can't decide...

I'd say go for MAX. Unless you already have a band, it's doubtful you can actually get into one and make a difference :)

Of course, if you're super good, scratch that :) But I think you should decid for yourself, not let a bunch of random forum members decide for you :D

Wll I can learn to model through downloadable Tuts but I'd like to learn properly. It's a similar situation with the Guitar thing, which would be a laugh but not much of a career move me thinks.

If you think learning modelling would take too much time, FRED! (If you want something correlating to FreeSpace)
On what level can you handle FRED by the way?

If you think you would take something not relating to computers, start reading books to get more educated or learn some proverbs/sayings to colorise your speech. Do not misunderstand: There is no problem the way you are communicating, but right now nothing else comes to my mind what to recommend.

I'm FREDing for IPAndrew's as it happens, but it's limited outside of FS modding (well duh) unlike using MAX.

Guitar, or Alcohol. I mean, The Max hey'll teach you'd be good, but nothing practice and a bunch of Tuts couldn't teach you free. Guitar is different. And Alcohol, well, so much the better.

That MAX course might eventually make you money somewhere...so could the guitar, too, I suppose. But not the drinking.

if you insist on taking a college course, take something degree-related, but not degree-required.  for example, if you're going into a computer-related industry, take something that'll look good on your final transcript, something that'll teach you something, like databasing, networking, whatever.
