I tried converting my test Whitehalls station, just so see if ti works.. I kept my fingers crossed as PCS chewed on it for allmost a full minute.
But in the end - IT WAS TEHRE!!!!

This is not yet a finished product. Texturing is not nearly done (still tweaking and testing), there are no lod's and no turrets...
EDIT: works fine in FS2_Open..but FRED seems to have some issues with it...gotta keep the show models and show outlines off or else it chrashes...

Now how about using this as an example and take the deck plate level on up (delete the bottom) and save as city tile 1. Duplicate it 3 more times and poof you got the TEST interior of SDF-1! Well need a box around it all with a runway tunnel leading out (you never get to actual space the mission auto ends on exit.)
What do you think? Just change the textures around a bit, but I think it's a good idea for a start. ??? WOOT!!!
Later on new city tiles can be made to replace or add to them...

The station is really big.... an Orion is approximately as long as that central tower is big...
so I would guess (haven't mesured) at least 6km across the shorter side, 9 across the other...
I'm still not done texturing it, this was just a test model.
One it's done, I will probably release it (this is supposed to be a central Earth starbase in my campaign)
@GRG - I allready have the SDF-1 interior in the works..look much more like a real city, not so high-techy...

Textures: Leaves something to be desired.
Personally, I always hated the Arcadia Textures.

heh, that's nothing I've had models that take more that five minuts to convert. :)

Currently - 7070 polys and texturing is going slowly, but steadily..
One it's finished, I'll give it some rotating radar domes and turrets (4 huge anti-cap missile turrets and a few uber-heavy anti-fighter ones), so the polycount should end up approx 8000....
